...what are the chances

Just curious...

Has anyone been broken up with their ex for 2 months or more... and either:

a- you missed the person and contacted them

b- they missed you and contact you

...and somehow you ended up getting back together and it worked out?

Or did the same issues resurface?

Or was it short-lived and eventually one or both of you realized it would not work out?

My friends and I differ in opinions... just curious if any of you have stories to share on the matter?

...and I am not referring to break-ups that happened due to things beyond your control (ie long distance) I am referring to relationships where either you or your significant other were unhappy for some reason or there were problems or trust issues etc

yes i believe they can workout, but sometimes time is needed to sort those things out, if you get back together too soon, then maybe you blow it forever. if you wait too long, maybe they're gone.

Unless both people take the time analyze themselves and their issues in the relationship it is most likely doomed as the parties did not mature in the way needed to make the relationship last.

My ex and I were broken up for 3 months. I actually ended up contacting him but apparently he had also drafted an email and was about to send it, I just beat him to it lol. We've been seeing each other again for about three months and things are really great. We are about to go to Mexico together, we went out with another couple last night, we spent Christmas with his family, and we seems to love each other more then ever. We've been able to deal with conflicts that come up much better then before. In the three months apart we both tried to really concentrate on working on ourselves. Neither of us hooked up with anyone.

His brother actually broke up with his girlfriend about a year and a half ago. I know they were broken up for at least three months and I dont know who contacted who first. I do know that theyre engaged now and getting married in September. Before them I didnt get involved in second chances because I didnt believe they ever worked out.

My good friend was in a long relationship, a few years. They lived together and were somewhat miserable and broke up. Took them 2 years to get back together! They kept in contact during this time as they have the same group of friends, it was tough on them. Eventually they just drifted back together and are now engaged.

Another couple I know are married now. Broke up for I believe 3-4 months, even dated other people briefly. I don't know the details on how they got back together though.

ok..more specific..

What if a girl breaks up with this guy who she dated for a yr and a half.. and tells him she doesn't love him and hates his family (his family and friends aren't too fond of her either)...then 3 months pass and he meets another woman..who he falls for...they date for 2 months and are together every day..the ex finds about her, gets jealous, and all of a sudden wants him back..she begs for him hysterically and non stop for weeks...and he is torn between 2 women...he really likes the new girl and so does his family..but there is not much history yet...he used to love the ex but she hurt him badly and he has already begun to move on...he is giving the ex the time of the day by fighting with her on a daily basis and answering her calls and texts all the time...but all the while telling the new girl he wants to be with her...eventually the new girl can't take it anymore and breaks up with him..he decides to give the ex another go at this point... but their dynamic has changed now that he has the upper hand and she is groveling.. as opposed to when they were first together and she had him at the palm of his hands and treated him poorly..

What are the chances this could work out... especially since he still thinks about what he lost with the other girl...and the new girl thinks about him a lot too... but they have gone NC for almost 3 weeks

I kind of imagine that this is what happened with my ex, only him and his ex had been together for a lot longer. I don't hope he's happy - but he better be happy for what he put me through.

Odds are that it wont work out with either as this person is emotionally immature and not ready to make a serious commitment as he does not know what he wants.

None of this sounds very promising. Did the ex, who he is back with, make any commitments and changes during the time off? It sounds like she just panicked at the site of him with another woman, and that he's just confused. I think we need a little more information to give a real answer, but from what you've told us I think it's going to come full circle and she'll be breaking up with him again. It'll be nice for a while though, but either he'll be too resentful eventually, or that switch will flip for her again and she'll be out as quickly as she got back in.

Hard to say though, it all just sounds very unhealthy and I think all these people can just use a couple months to themselves and reflect on what they truly want.
