How to call her?

So here's the thing. I am visiting my parents' new home town since they just moved here. I am planning on staying for a little while and do not know anybody here. So recently, my mother was at a friend's pre-christmas party at happened to ask one of the girls my age for her number and told her I want my son to call you when he visits because he does not know anybody here. The girl said of course he can call me.

So my question is, how do I call her without sounding too creepy or needy. I mean I have no problem approaching girls in person, but calling a girl who I have never met just sounds akward to me. I'll admit I do get bored sometimes, I've gone out to places, but haven't really met my click of people here. I DID actually check out this person's facebook...and I must say she is a real cutie...damn how do I approach this?

I would say just a friendly informal call would work. "Hey, I am so and so's, I am in town and was wondering if you wanted to hang out (or fill in whatever you like)"

Of course you could also add "I believe you met my mom" or some variation of that to add context or so. Depending if your mom told her what your name was. Thats just my 2 cents.

Perfect.

I've been in a similar situation, so what Photogeek says would work.

Here's some more ideas on what to say...

"Hey this is [your name]... is [her name] there?"

If she says it's her speaking... say, "Oh hey [her name], I got your number from my mom. You met her at the pre-christmas party."

Then go on from there...
