I need motivation :(

Recommended Posts

In July my boyfriend broke up with me and I lost a lot of weight because I was feeling like **** . I put it all back on again later and I think I put on more than I weighed before the breakup . I am not overweight but I guess you can call it puppy fat or something .

I am 5'6 and weight almost 60 kg , think that is 132 or something for you Americans :)

I am also easily tired and so unfit and eat crap . I think coke , chocolate and fried foods are my worst enemy . I haven't been to the gym for months either .

I really want a fit and toned body and to eat healthy again and love my body .

I am just a lazy cow and need to get over that . If anyone can motivate me and tell me their stories it might help :)

If you were my woman I would make you drink only water. I would also give you a good long work out in the bedroom every night!

I would definitely cut out the soda. Totally empty calories and an easy thing to cut out, IMO. In fact I pretty much don't drink any drinks other than water and maybe some skim milk with breakfast (unless I'm out with my boyfriend and/or friends - I'll have a few beers or mixed drinks).

As far as working out, it's tough. I can honestly say I've just never been one of those people who "loves" going to the gym and I so wish I was. Luckily I am a creature of habit, so once I get into a routine of going it is more or less painless.

Judging by your avi you're very pretty, and your weight is totally healthy, so if you want to get in better shape do it for YOU and not anyone else...because I'm sure they already think you look great! ;)

Do you like to dance?

Also, switching to grilled or poached from fried and choosing less fatty meats can make a difference without a huge change in menu. For example, when I was back in North Carolina last weekend, the center of the fried food universe, I had grilled salmon, steamed vegetables, brown rice and roasted spaghetti squash when we went out to dinner. I had to change diet because of my gizzard (gall bladder) but find the change to feel healthier and, frankly, don't miss the 'rich' foods at all. I also drink primarily water and don't keep any sodas in the house at all. It's water, tea and occasionally fruit juice and coffee as beverages. I add lemon wedge to the water for variety.

IMO, make small changes which can be maintained over time; essentially a modification of lifestyle. IME, you'll find this to become more important as you grow older and your body changes with age. Doing something you enjoy for exercise (I suggested dancing, which can be social and a lot of fun) can make that part of the equation feel more effortless.

Also, get a good night's sleep and don't be up on LS at 2am (yeah, I know it's 9pm in Sydney) like I am right now :D

Well, I went through a bad breakup last November- still am going through it I guess! But one thing I've done is to get a personal trainer at my gym and I am loving it!

I'm trying to bulk up and he's being really helpful. It's only been a month and I'm already seeing results.

The reason why I'm sticking at this is that it's costing me a lot of money to have sessions with him and I'm tied down to a 3 month contract now. my motivation is that I'm spending so much cash so I might as well push myself for the right results!

Do you think you could try something like this? Reignite your gym routine at least!

And yes, you do look very pretty. :)

After my break up, I started hitting the gym 5-6 times a week as a way to manage stress (it was the best way to ensure I got some sleep). At first, I didn't do it to shape up, so I would go to the gym, do an easy workout and head out of there. I stuck to it because I knew it kept me afloat emotionally. I also started taking bodypump (weight training) classes, mostly because weight training ensures amazing sleep. Lo and behold, three months later, I feel like I'm addicted to working out. I love my body and more importantly, I can't believe how much energy I have. This feels good.

In the past, I would always hit the gym "hard" instead of easy, go home and just not want to go back because I associated it with pain. Taking the "easy workout route" had the opposite effect. The gym felt good, made me feel good and I often had to force myself not to over-exhert myself. I look forward to my workouts, mostly because I now focus on enjoying them. (Think about that feeling, when endorphins rush through your body, as you're doing an intense cardio... Few things are more relaxing). So that would be my recommendation: start easy. And note: the results I got were better, quicker, than when I worked out really hard at the gym (not sure why, other than it made it easier to work out regularly). And, my strength and cardio increased way faster than they ever did in the past.

As to the food, it seems like you've identified your weaknesses. You aren't, however, anywhere near an unhealthy weight. As such, I wouldn't really worry about it just yet. (Although, cutting out cola is always a good idea - try replacing it with tea (cafeine) and fruit (sugar) until you're off the stuff.) It's been my experience that once I start exercising regularly, I naturally gravitate to healthier foods. I'll crave more proteins and healthy whole grain carbs.

Are you taking applications? :p

Buttercup, I would highly recommend you follow in Kamille's footsteps as shown above. Starting off too hard is a good way to ensure that you never establish a consistent routine. You'll see results provided that you are 1) consistent 2) focused on making steady, incrementally small progress 3) in it for the long haul.

Another thing you may want to do is look for a reputable fitness group in your area. I'm not necessarily talking about Weight Watchers or Curves, etc. (nothing wrong with such organizations, but it's not what I'm referring to here). At my gym, a friend of mine has a personal training business where he trains many guys and girls not only on an individual basis, but also incorporates a "team" approach to training. While they do train individually or in small groups, they participate in team workouts, team dinners, travel as a team to various competitions, etc. Having the support of like minded individuals can be an extremely powerful tool in optimizing your results. It can also be a great way to make new friends. :)

OK here's the thing of how you are treating your body...you are abusing it with junk food. Celebrate yourself and get back into healthy shape.

Going to the gym is great. But even more important are the foods your ingest afters and the quality of sleep you get that night. Both will repair all the muscles you exercised and make you stronger and filled with energy.

No more coke, caffeine, sugar...I could go on with products to get rid of but lets start with these. Caffeine and sugar spike your insulin levels and give you the illusion of energy, but we all know there is a crash...you can acquire the same feeling through exercising and a good diet.

And dont look at going to the gym as a chore, look at the end picture of how health you'll feel and look!

Incorporate extra virgin olive oil and coconut oil into your diet (great for your skin). Eat as many vegetables as you can (steamed are good), restrict your alcohol consumption, eat balanced meals, etc. Look up Apple Cider Vinegar it has numerous benefits

Youre an attractive girl, so stay good lookin'!
