i'm the dumpee, and it's been a year NC today actually, and i don't plan on ever initiating contact.

IMO I would say it all depends on how the break up went. I myself have spoke with all my ex's at some point regardless of who broke up with who. I how ever had not been through a horrible break up till the current ex, who I will not speak with due to the way she treated me. Closure is a wonderful thing and I have been very fortunate as to have had it with the last two ex's. It truly does help with the healing process but both of the ladies have dignity and respected me as a person and I them.
