karie5744
Hello, I'm in a heap of a mess. I have gained weight and I know it was because I was in an unhappy relationship, which is now OVER.. thanks to his cheating on me with an older woman... I have gained 70 pounds in 3 years approximately. ..I'm walking but have a bad knee so can't speed walk.. I can't afford to pay for Weight Watchers or using the machines at the gym... I'm trying to eat less and exercise in my apt but feel I'm eating the wrong food anyway. Anyone know anything about eating foods for your blood type? I'm beginning to think that theory is right. My metabolism is sluggish.. even though I walk daily.. only for 15 minutes and then my knee gets stiff from arthritis. I used to weigh 200 6 years ago, 180 8 years ago.. and now? I weigh a whopping 270 pounds... not good for my knees... I have a desk job.. and all the time I was sad.. ate junk food.. It is harder to get off then on, that's for sure!!! Help me.... thanks
dudesomewhere
eeh, see that avatar pic? That's me...yeah, I mess around with art so the bg is all fancy Don't believe any fads...eating for your blood type my azz. And you don't need weight watchers...or anything else really. All named things are just brands that teach about eating properly...that you can do on your own. The simple things do come into play, limit your carbohydrate intake. Fat is good, protein is good, carbs are good...all in moderation...nothing restricted. That said, ever count the carbs in processed foods and look at how much you end up eating in a day...hoozah. Stay away from junk food. No more MacDs. check here for info I posted already http://www.loveshack.org/forums/t39596/ whatever you consume now, you need to reduce. Over the course of your change you have to try and take away 100 calories per week. And I'm only using this as a very safe measure. In person I could judge much better. eh, pm me
Samson
Blood type diet? What nonsense is this? Agree with dude. You gotta reduce caloric intake. Lots of good (non-fad diets) that are also cheap. Sounds like you could try biking or swimming to burn calories and stay off the knee. Just a guess, but it sounds like you have drawn some correlation between your unhappiness with husband's infidelity and weight gain. You need to get happy. If you are drinking away your sorrows (beer, wine, whatever), then you're taking in lots of calories. Usually the uninhibited state of inebriation will also allow you to eat copious amounts you wouldn't otherwise touch.

Pyrannaste
Anyone know anything about eating foods for your blood type? Eating foods that are right for your blood type is not really about losing weight, it's about the kind of food that's supposedly best for your health. Personally I regard it as a bunch of bullsh*t, my blood type is O and I *need* to eat tons of pasta and bread.
Matilda
I think the blood type diet is a bunch of BS too. Here is a good link that explains about a healthy diet. http://www.4woman.gov/faq/diet.htm I really think you should reconsider weight watchers. It really is a very good way to learn about a healthy diet, and how much you should be eating. It is very flexible, and is a way of eating you can live with. I think the support you get there would be very good for you right now. I just checked prices on the internet, and I don't know where you live, but in my area it is only $25 for the first meeting (that includes registration), and then $11 per meeting thereafter. Maybe you could decrease the beer budget and put it toward weight watchers? There are also lots of good books out there about healthy diets. I would stick with those that discuss what a healthy diet is, not weight loss per se. I think you'll find if you just start eating healthily, that you will lose weight. KitCat
I'm no expert, however, I got a little chubby around the age of 15 and i lost it recently (I'm 18 now). I lost about 40 pounds in about 5 or 6 months... and I've toned up and gotten a lot stronger (muscles in places i didn't even know i should have had them). However, what I did was basically cut out ALL (and i mean ALL) sodas, chips, and fast food. I stick to cereals (i love Smart Start and Go Lean Crunch), yogurts, salads, sandwiches, fat free puddings, jello is great, and I'm an applesauce with rice cakes freak...lol. However, my point... i've changed my whole lifestyle. Which was VERY hard... I LOVE food and chocolate and such things.... but it's been worth it. I went from a size 11/12 to about a 7/8 now. I also started working out. I exercise about 4 times a week for about 1.5-2 hours. Bottom line... no junk food... and plenty of exercise. But if you must (i had to) a really good prescription diet pill (that you can get online without a prescription for about $130 for a two month supply) is Phentermine. I used it the first month or two and it shrunk my stomach... really worked wonders.... and has helped some of my older relatives as well.
Samson
6 Beers a day! Well there's a problem with a silver lining. Putting down the bottle will be the equivalent of saving youself around 1000 calories/day, and you'll feel much more like biking/swimming. BTW just for perspective, if you weight 220 lbs and run a mile in 9 minutes, you'll only burn about 180 calories. Don't try this with your knee, but I assure you, not drinking a six pack every day is much easier than running the 5 miles it takes to burn it off!
Unlucky In Love
I am a woman who has also struggled with weight. It is difficult when you have a physical injury that limits your ability to exercise. The best thing you can do is to go to Target and spend 5 bucks on Dr. Phil's book. I have used it to help me lose weight. It provides a sensible diet and meal plans that are easy to follow. The South Beach diet book is another good one. You will lose about 10 pounds in the first two weeks. You just follow the meal plans. I have read Eating for Your Blood Type, but it's not as good as other books on the market. Your weight is 70% diet and 30% exericse. Exercise is not required on either of these plans. However, if you have insurance you might talk to your doctor about physical therapy or exercises that help your your knees. Good luck! Let us know what you decide to do!
