Notice a lot of women want to mention that they have their MASTERS DEGREE

1. You came into this thread on the attack. I didn't 'attack' you---I attacked the attack, which is known as defending. Many of your posts are based upon the premise that education is 'snobby,' 'worthless,' and overall bad in some way, and I think that is an offensive statement---equally as offensive as stating people are somehow bad for taking another path, at least. I tried to point out the irony.

2. Hence why I said 'otherwise equal' candidate. Most of the time, you won't be getting 10 years experience and no degree for jobs that require degrees.

1. Once again, I didn't say education is snobby or worthless. I said if you act snobby because of a degree, that's different. Worthless was once again my GIRLFRIEND saying it, do I have to retype my original post or something?

Sorry, still not right on this one. My personal belief is that all of society is wrong. You're pretty much forced into 20+ years of school to work for 40-60 years only to die, and for what? To pay bills? Not a fan of it at all, that's where I'm coming from. I'm also fairly confident the world's economic system will tumble totally sooner or later, and college education won't matter much to any of us then.

Perhaps I didn't type it out correctly, I don't know. However, you two have been railing against imagined arguments.

As someone who got a degree (admittedly only bachelor's) from an Ivy League school, I concur that education in today's society is overrated. It's mainly a socialization method used to try to create hierarchies and weed people in or out. Motivated people are perfectly capable of learning what they need for many jobs and careers they are interested in without formal education. Obviously I'm not talking about all types of education (for example, med school). But *most* people I know are working in employment that has nothing to do with the degrees they received.
Exactly right. If you want to be a doctor, lawyer, engineer, or some other job where you need specialized training, then college is great. If not, go out and work. Business degrees are probably the most worthless; if you want to go into business, go out and learn to sell stuff.

1. She says it's worthless, you misread.

2. That's the strawman, I never once said anything about making more money so you brought it up as a point to argue, despite you being the only one talking about it.

See?

1. You presented her argument to this thread. Never mind the fact that you were also calling college a joke. Thus you joined the anti-post grad degree camp. So when we put those two things together, how could ANYONE not gather that you were using her statement to further your argument?

2. Wow...you should really look up the definition of strawman. I swear some people suck so hard when it comes to proper discourse. They throw around strawman and ad hominem accusations like its a field day.

YOU said your friend wasnt making much money with her Masters degree. I directly responded to this by stating that this is not a permanent condition, and she could be very well making more in the future. Simple.

Whats so hard for you to understand? You made statement that I DIRECTLY replied to.

No I didn't, she doesn't have a masters and I never said she did. My original statements were about ANYONE that flaunts education as if it makes them better than other people. Why is this hard for you?

I know what a strawman is, and you both created one. When you invent an argument that doesn't exist and attribute it to your opponent and subsequently attack said strawman...it's a strawman.

Jesus, you guys are making my head hurt. This is why I usually ignore the dating section because this type of crap happens all the time here.

"My wife is annoying"

"Why do you hate women? You must be gay!"

See?
