Disenchantedly Yours
Guys, I am curious. Would you be bothered if your girlfriend wanted to get a tattoo and she had to get compeletely or partially naked to get it. Such as showing another man her boobs while she gets tattooed, or her butt or even her vagina. Would this bother you or no?
kaylan
I dont see the problem. Shes going to a professional to get work done. Its like going to the doctor and getting partially naked when he checks behind your balls for a hernia. I see no issue with that. I have a piece on my chest and was obviously shirtless for that. Its no biggie. I wouldnt be a fan of a tattoo near the crotch though. Not that id mind the artist seeing her vag. Just that its kinda tacky spot even though I love ink on women. Fondue
Being an RN, I've seen enough genitals of both genders to just consider it as another part of the body, nothing more than that. These tattoo artists are the same. They see that stuff constantly. To them, a boob is a boob. Just a canvas that they work on. I am 99.9% sure they're not thinking "OMG, LOL, I'M TOUCHING HER TITS RIGHT NOW! SCORE!" It's more like, "I hope I don't **** this **** up, she likes it, and refers costumers to me." So in the end, I will not care whatsoever.

I'm not trying to say you start saying unproffessional stuff or offer a boob masage but a boob is not a boob.
Grinning Maniac
^ As an artist, I'd have to say yes it is. When we had people come in to pose nude for us, I'd get into an entirely different headspace. I'd just see them as a subject. Also, I couldn't see myself flirting with a customer. I don't **** where I eat. Edited March 10, 2012 by Grinning Maniac
Feelin Frisky
Deal breaker for me. And it's not about her exposing herself--it's about the tattoo. I abhor the very idea of it and see it as nothing but a badge of insecurity, foolishness and under-valuing of nature's natural beauty. I just will not stand for it. That's my choice and I get to make it come what may or go what go. I may accept a female who has made that abhorrent choice at a younger age but getting new ones is a deal breaker.
kiss_andmakeup
My reaction to my boyfriend having a problem with the aforementioned scenario (with the exception of a reason like Frisky's, which would not occur in my relationship anyways, since it would make us incompatible) would be quite simply: really?? o_O Not that I would ever get a tattoo in an area that requires nudity anyways. I like my breasts, butt, and pubic area au naturel. My boyfriend and I have both enjoyed the art of tattooing...though not gratuitous. We each have one very large piece that's unique, detailed, and personal to us (mine is a full upper back piece, his is a half sleeve (sub-parentheses: have you ever met a doctor with a half-sleeve?! kinda rad.).). I have no desire to cover myself head to toe, but I love my tattoo, my boyfriend loves it, and I love his. I can't imagine him getting bent out of shape if the process required some clothing removal.
Andy_K
I'd see no problem with it. It's kinda like getting mad if her doctor is checking her for breast cancer. Even if he does register 'hot boob' or whatever, d'you think he'd try anything? The few tattoo artists I've spoken to take their work very seriously and are far too professional for that kind of thing
Author Disenchantedly Yours
Thanks for the responses! This was a topic on a local radio show recently and I was curious myself how the peeps at LS felt about it. I would agree that someone who sees body parts alot of the time, like Fondue said, would be accostumed to it and be able to act professionally. I also can understand a man not being attracted, or being attracted to tattoos. I think Tattoos can be sexy myself, as long as it's not all over his body. Like one or two. I wouldn't much care if another woman that was inking him saw him naked. Some of the male callers that called in seemed to have a problem with it and seemed to think no man could look at a woman naked and not get excited.
Eclypse
Well personally I wouldn't date a woman with tattoos. That would just be a dealbreaker for me. But if it wasn't, then I doubt I'd have a problem with her getting naked for the tatts. If the tattoo artist is a professional then I doubt any issues would arise.
gaius
Would you feel the same way about a female masseuse Disenchantedly? somedude81
I'd not really be mad that she's getting naked for the tattoo artist but the fact that she's getting a tattoo in a place that she has to get naked for. That's just way too trashy.
dasein
Tattoo = conformity in my book, and an inability to express oneself as an individual, so wouldn't be dating that person to begin with.
ditzchic
Not to add to the paranoia, but I don't think all artists are created equal. I'm sure 99% are resectable and take their craft seriously but there are definitely slime balls in the bunch. One of my exes used to frequent a message board forum type place where "artists" (both photographers and tattoo artists) would show off their nude pics of their subjects for other hornballs to gawk over. I guess most of these jerks would get themselves to sleep at night by pointing out that their clients signed something saying all images belonged to the artist and some (but not all) of these creeps would even be nice enough to black out or pixilate faces if they were visible but then there were the guys that would joke about it and be like "she said these were only for her husbands eyes" and shizz like that. I was shocked when my ex showed me this. And even more shocked that he enjoyed it. Part of the reason he's my ex.

Spending an hour alone in a room with your boyfriend rubbing his naked body down with oils and putting her hands dangerously close to private areas. Yeah, I am okay with this too. As long as her hands stay off his private area. And maybe this is sexist but I think women masseuses might have a more professional work ethic then that of male tattoo artists. However, if a man knows he can't get a massage from a woman without it being sexual, then he should know better then to put himself in that situation to begin with and instead purposely ask for a male masseuse. When I have gone for a massage, I always go to a woman. Even then it's a little freaky stripping down. If he is a man that knows he can handle it and just go for the purpose of what a massage should be, I am completely okay with that.

FitChick
women masseuses A masseuse is by definition female. A masseur is male. They are French words.
gaius
A masseuse is by definition female. A masseur is male. They are French words. I think we are in the process of dumping Masseur over here in the states, I always hear male masseuse or male massage therapist whenever the term is brought up. And you just gave me a flashback to high school english class.
FitChick
Nothing wrong with male massage therapist because that is what a masseur is. I would be more concerned that your girlfriends might be videotaped without their knowledge and end up on the internet.

Yeah, like somebody else here stated. A good looking woman with a tattoo is like the Grand Canyon surrounded by ugly bilboard signs. People can do what they want with their bodies but I tend to lose respect for people who chose to have some ex con with an eighth grade education permanently mark up their bodies with cheesy cartoon art. Seriously? But that's my opinion. Ill put my flame retardent suite on now.
Negative Nancy
Most tattoo artists are professionals (and those are the only ones you'd go to anyway, I hope) and focus on tattooing, not the fact that they are near a client's genitals. And it's not always a pleasure to be near those genitals anyway. One of my best friends is a tattoo artist and sometimes he tells stories about stinky clients, women who want a vaginal piercing and have the string of the tampon hanging out or who have a gross smell down there , male clients who want obscure stuff on their (seemingly unwashed) member.... ...yeah, I do not envy tattoo artists. lino
Wouldn't bother me in the slightest and unlike most others who have replied to this topic, I find tattoos in private areas on a woman to be incredibly sexy.
