"The one who got away"

Recommended Posts

In this case, it isn't even really someone I know!

I met a guy last night at the bar. I was a little intoxicated, so I could have possibly made up a lot of what happened in my mind. But i'm pretty sure it was real. He was extremely attractive (to me), and very charming. One of his friends that he was with, approached me after I walked away from him, telling me that he was interested. Why he didn't tell me that himself, i'm not sure.

Anyway, the unfortunate part of this entire story, is that him and I flirted and danced the entire night, and I can't even remember his name! I'm not sure if I even got it!

Such a sad state of affairs. Thankfully, what i've gained from this is that I still have the ability to be so incredibly attracted to someone that I actually want them. My ex hasn't ruined me after all! I just haven't found the right person yet :) Until last night, that is. But he is gone now :( Sad face!

Go back there and see if anyone from that night is there so you can ask around who he is.

Post a bulletin board message in the bar?

Crapola.

I thought about going back there. Maybe tomorrow night. I don't want to do anything too crazy though.

The world is a lot smaller than we think. Maybe you'll run into him again... ;)

I can only hope!!!! I don't get out too much since i've moved, but I definitely have to put effort into this.

You mean like going to the bar at 12 PM, sitting in the corner booth until 4 A.M. waiting for him?

If I could sit there until 4, I probably would ! Unfortunately the bars here close at 2. I have to find someone to go with me so i'm not sitting there by myself!

Seriously though, I would if you were in my town or something....

I want to meet an LS person so bad lol.

! I've met one before, and live with one now! Don't get your hopes up too much

WHAT?

You live with an LS member? met one?

I had a chance to meet one(I won't say who out of respect) as she moved to Syracuse for a while for reasons. I'm only 70 miles from there and she said we could meet up just as friends. I was in construction then and working in Syracuse(drove back and fourth) and told her the job site.

I was paranoid that she would of showed up asking if Eric is here lol so I kept looking around the corner and stuff to see if she was there lmao.

I was such a chicken back then..... I think I could do it now.

I did talk to one on the phone though a long time ago(not Y_D) for about 20 minutes. They don't post anymore so no trying to guess lol.

There's no reason to be that nervous. It's just another human being. It's not that bad :)

I'd just be worried what they would think of me.

Like if we did meet and started saying hi and all that....10 minutes later they'd be like "Ok Eric....nice seeing you" then leave I'd be embarrassed. It would show me that they aren't really comfortable with me or something.

It would also be weird to meet someone from here after they read all of your truly personal stuff on LS.....

A meetup with me would be awkward at first...I'd admit that, but I guess they'd not see the bad guy I am on here.

Most likely be really surprised.

Just like i'm telling a close girlfriend of mine, you have to stop thinking about hypotheticals. You have to focus on the first step, before wondering about the fifth. Any way, good luck!!

Yes and I hope you find your friend.

Wouldn't hurt to take a stroll up there a few times and see what happens. Could you even remember what he looks like?

Good luck!

 I can't when I try to think back on it. It's all very fuzzy. But i'm sure once I see him i'll know. It was one of those moments when I first saw him, so i'm sure i'd feel the same way once I see him again (which I hopefully do). Thanks!

If it was a club or bar perhaps the bartender might know the gent. I know how that feels though, I went bar hopping after a school reunion when I was 35 and I met someone who was not part of our scene and it was electric. I don't know why I didn't try to see her again. I even made out with her at the end which was brash for me and felt like it was a dream. Then the recriminations came in the sober days ahead. I went back to that club once but no trace of who she was or if I'd ever see her again. Just one of those things you regret but are wonderful to have had happen. It was a real ego booster because I had some months before broken up with my finance and had to go alone to a school reunion and people I knew since childhood were probably wondering by then what up with me because I was in such great personal shape, I think my best looking and unescorted at the time. That encounter couldn't have worked out better except me taking it more seriously for follow up. She was very well-dressed and adult-looking and classy. Oh well.

Even if you don't see him, but another guy who gives you those feelings, I hope it will be me!:(:laugh:

Excuse me...I'm kinda tired.

good luck, again.

That's what i'm hoping for!! Another feeling like the one I had!!

Ah, so i'm not alone in this feeling!! It's definitely something that's unexplainable. That moment when you meet someone and just *know* it's sooooo right! And then realizing, the next day (and those following) that you won't see them again. It's bittersweet.

I do, however, completely agree with you. I feel that even though I understand the chances of seeing him again are slim, it has given me hope. Hope in the sense that I know I am capable of feeling this way towards someone else other than my ex fiance. It also makes me realize that these last 2 years of being single hasn't been for nothing. I've been holding out. Waiting for the one person to make me feel 'alive' again.

It's just a shame that it won't be with him. He's made me feel things that I haven't felt in a long time. And it's all because of one silly night at a bar!

Aw that's so nice of you to say!!! There's a bit of a back story. His girl friend approached me and told me he was interested, and i'm pretty sure I put my guard up, considering there was someone there with me that liked me and I didn't want to offend. Either way, the regret is horrible!!

I did meet Hokie, but Star is, unfortunately, not the one who I live with. I live with a lurker (on LS). Hasn't been around for awhile.

You're stirring the pot aren't you....lol..

But in case no and this is serious.....God dammit.

Bahaha. No harsh feelings :)

So.... I'm so happy for you and Hokie in meeting:rolleyes::laugh::laugh:

Nah, all good....Hokie is a good dude so ....I approve:D

He's an amazing guy! Just like the rest of us here on LS! :)

I have decided to post something on a site that's local for us. This is something *completely* out of the norm for me, but I feel like it's worth one last try. I'm such a hopeless romantic!!:love:

IME, many 'attraction' get-aways are possible in life. IMO, a true 'let him/her get away' is when one gets to know the person, has intimacy with them and makes a choice to discontinue that, upon reflection, was a poor choice. I've been attracted to women and not acted upon it, even if we had situational rapport, and didn't feel 'she got away' because I didn't really know her. I've had, OTOH, one instance where I did feel a 'good one got away' and that was completely my responsibility. I knew she was good and we were good together and I still let her go. Now, the memory of her resides in my LS travel album.
