trying to better myself (job situation)

I will be honest, i've never been able to hold a job....I just turned 26 and it's just striking me now for some odd reason that, i have to tough something out. It's not that I'm lazy, It's just all i've ever gotten for work is back breaking general labor jobs for 10 dollars an hour (which i can't stand)....i've never had much confidence because i've always felt under people due to my job situations. It was the one and only factor in my ex and I breaking up because i was literally depressed beyond belief about it all.

I've realized finally that i'm going to have to stick some job out whether i like it or not...i'm actually waiting and hoping i get into this job i went for an orientation for...it will pay almost double what i've ever made...this is a huge deal for me and my fingers are crossed...thing is...in the mean time i'm trying to pay off a student loan each month, that i've been struggling with to pay with no steady job.

I got a call into an interview today for another mindless labour job, and i'm just wondering what to do if i get this good job eventually? The place that i'm waiting to get into might call soon, and i'll have to quit this job that I'm taking in the mean time as filler....i just feel kind of bad lying to the employer, saying yeah I'm looking for long time work...(just cause that's what they all want to hear) then a couple days later saying...oh, well this place i've been waiting to get into for awhile now wants me...so, sorry?

How do i go about this without feeling like a complete dick.

You need to realize that the employer is in it for themselves and you need to be as well. If a better opportunity comes up no one in their right mind would say if they were in your position you would just stick it out.
