I do cardio 5 days a week(run 3 miles or cross train with the eliptical and stepper for 20 min each) I lift weights 5 days a week with a different body part each day ie. biceps and triceps 1 day- then shoulders the next-back on day 3 etc. I also watch what I eat.

Please tell me why can't I lose weight? I am 5'6" and weight 135lbs and have for the last 5 years, I am 32 years old. I would like to weigh 125lbs. i know 10lbs doesn't seem like much but it is because my body fat index is borderline high. I don't get what I am doing wrong but I know what I am doing isn't working-please help

first off, your body fat index is NOT high. Those things are so off. They dont account for muscle or anything. And muscle weighs more than fat. So DONT pay attention to that. IF you want to lose those last ten pounds, change your routine. Do different stuff. Your body is used to where it is, so it has no need to change now. But change what youre doing, perhaps do different cardio or something. Do epiliptics instead of running. And that will help. But Please dont pay attentiion to those BMI things,

I don't understand how your BMI can be borderline high... I just about make it to 5'5" and I weight 135, which is completely healthy, including a completely healthy BMI. You will have to go to better sources to get more accurate results with your BMI however, as it does not differentiate between someone who is very physically active and someone who is not. The CDC.gov website has information on the problem with BMI and weight lifting.

I'm not certain you should be working out five days out of the week, however. Your body needs time to rest itself between exercising. I'm with you on losing a few vanity pounds however. I haven't been able to do it the past few months, and the last bit of fat I want to get rid of is in my abdominal area.

I just think: For the moment I am healthy, and I know I am living a healthy lifestyle. Nobody else really notices the inch I cannot seem to lose around my stomach. If someone does notice, they really do not think anything of it, as it is hardly noticeable in the first place. ::shrug::

I will either eliminate the fat through increased cardio in the future, or I will not. I'm fine how I am right now :)

thanks for the advice!

I went to a personal trainer and he measured my %age of fat. He is the one that said it was borderline high. I feel healthy and look healthy so I guess I shouldn't worry so much. I sometimes wonder if people stretch the truth a bit to get you to sign up for personalized training sessions which are quite costly?

He was probably trying to get you to sign on for personal training. I just hired a trainer and it is very costly. I am 50 lb's overweight.

As someone suggested before, change your rutine around. Your body gets used to exercises and it will stop being effective if you work the same musscle group every day.

Also, I hired the trainer because I have no idea how to use a lot of the weight machines. He has been very helpful and gave me a diet to follow. I decided to try it out for a month and if I like it maybe a couple more. Just until I get the hang of things and feel like I can handle it on my own. Then maybe one day I can become a trainer myself! :p

He basicaly told me that diet is 70% of your success.
