Is it really possible for a persons core self to change? Or are we detined to continue making the same mistakes over and over?

yes it's eminently possible

Q: How many therapists does it take to change a light-bulb?

A: Just one - but the light-bulb REALLY has to want to change.....

But what if you really want to but don't know how? I know people say therapy and that's great for some. It seems like it should be so easy to change if you want to. Besides, some people go through years and only get marginally better if at all.

I guess i'm just bitter because I can't afford a therapist. Mental health (or any other kind!)shouldn't be reserved for only those who can afford it.

I used three therapists - all referrals - and each one was a pile of crock.

In the end, I resorted to so many 'self-help' books, my shelves were groaning under the weight.

But it worked.

Now, I'm normal...! :p:D

The secret is not necessarily the therapy.

The secret is doing the work and walking the talk.

You can try the Lefkoe Method for free. Not as good as a phone session which is $200 and personally crafted for your specific problem. Pause and backtrack if you need to because the spoken words don't always match the written so it might be confusing. Actually, maybe you should

in five parts on youtube so you can more easily follow the interactive one.

It's the only thing that really helped me change and was easier than anything else, too. I wish I had the thousands of dollars I spent on other things that were useless.

No, I don't think we can change who we are at the core.

I think personality is fixed after a certain age and it is more about being aware of our dominant pull towards either being negative or positive minded, regardless even of belief system.

Take care,

No, I don't believe we can change who we are at our core.

Though I do believe we can change how we react to things. Thus giving us a different outcome.

I also believe mistakes are just lessons and once we have learned the lesson we don't repeat those mistakes.

We can also change the way we think, which also will give us a different outcome.

Your desire to change is the start. Lots of wonderful resources are available online.
