milla
I am having a really hard time coping with my divorce and I wanted to join some sort of support group... but I've scoured the internet and I couldn't find even one single solitary listing for support groups in the Miami area. I really need help. I feel like I'm drowning and I have no one to talk to.
average guy
I know it doesn't sound like much, but if you call social services or family services (or even a hospital) they should be able to refer you to an organisation that can help you. Also, some therapists run support groups as well as therapy, so you might call a few family or marriage therapists as well Good luck
Author milla
Honestly, I called united way help line and I could barely contain my grief and the woman on the other end was just like "divorce support group? hang on, let me see my list... nope, sorry!"... I was like... Oh OK. I will try what you suggest. I just spent several hours on the phone with my husband... we both think it's a good idea for me to perhaps go home to Australia. I'm going to see if I can get out of my lease, but I'm not counting on it... I had friends out here, they even convinced me to move out here for "support"... Pressured me into signed this lease. But, they barely even call me once a day and ask how I am... matter of fact they never ask me how I am. Maybe I put up too much of a brave front, I don't know. I never ask them for anything... but, they don't even check in on me! And I'm not doing alright. Not at all. I cry all day, everyday. I feel crushed. I don't know what to do. If I don't find a job and some support out here, I'm just going to cut my losses and move back home to Australia.
Tatchina
Milla, me too, maybe if you call a doctor office who deals with depression, they will be able to give you some groups for divorce support...that's a good idea because I need that too... Good Luck..

brashgal
http://www.nacsdc.org/rgn/r4/r4fl.html I wouldn't imagine you'd have to be Catholic...there were others I googled using Miami divorce support group...

Author milla
Thanks for all you suggestions... I'm not catholic, but I am going to join maybe a non-denominational church out here... I found that listing for Miami too, the thing is I don't have a car and they are all across the causeway (I'm living on the beach) in downtown Miami. I am coping better today. I've only cried a little bit and managed to pull myself together relatively quickly. I think the hardest thing is that we've decided to file the divorce, but at the same time he is still my best friend, and I'm having trouble understanding how we can get along so great and love each other APART... but we're so terrible together? Why didn't it work? And, honestly without him these last few days to talk to me, I think I probably would have done something really drastic. It was that bad. So, I love him even more now because he's been there for me when I needed him, tirelessly. It's just really hard to let go. But I am feeling better now and I really thank you all for your good wishes and suggestions. Tomorrow is sunday, hopefully I can find a church to go to. I think that'll really help me a lot.
