Nohbody
So, what form do you think the rapture will take? Will there be a killer disease released by terrorists or through government mismanagement? Will a trump and a shout announce the return of Yeshua? Will The sun turn black? Will good people who do not believe be saved along with the faithful? What about Muslims? Catholics? Jews? Buddhists? Atheists? Agnostics? Jedi? Will Quetzalcoatl be involved? Will there be clothing left behind if people are bodily raised to heaven? Will the antichrist KNOW he is the antichrist? Is it going to happen soon? Let us discuss!

Author Nohbody
I'm not joking. I'm seriously interested in what form people believe that the rapture (or end of the world in general) will take.
quankanne
if you listen to certain believers, the signs are everywhere. If you use common sense, chances are it's not gonna take form how folks imagine. because we're very visual, literal people, we're expecting some kind of huge revolution, when in reality, things happen on a spiritual level. And, it's my thought that the Rapture isn't going to faze a true believer, because his mind is set on God, and nothing that happens in the physical world or to his physical body is going to matter anyhow, it's all about that spiritual relationship.
M30USA
If I was forced to predict what form the rapture will take, I would say it would be tied in with the UFO phenomenon. I believe that, just as Elijah was raptured from earth in a "chariot of fire", so will believers be raptured at the end time. There is huge evidence in the Bible to link "chariots of fire" and "chariots of the Lord" with UFOs. Many people believe all UFOs are demonic; but why then is every mention of "chariots of fire" or similar aerial craft in the Bible ALWAYS of the Lord? I do, however, believe the enemy will spread a lie and maybe say that the people who were taken are the bad ones (ie, Christians). The enemy won't be able to deny that a huge portion of humans vanished (most likely in these "chariots of fire"), but he can lie and say that those who are left are the good guys. I believe it might also be tied in with a "mother earth" philosophy where the enemy might say that those who were taken are harming the earth and preventing mankind from advancing to the next stage. Author Nohbody
M30USA, have you read "Cosmic Trigger" by Robert Anton Wilson? You can find it online for free - but I think you might get a kick out of it.
thatone
this planet will cease to exist in about 4 billion years when our galaxy collides with andromeda. the end.
Feelin Frisky
The rapture is not a biblical idea but an add-on by latter-day nuts and theologians (people who seriously study the musings of nuts who contrive anthropocentric scenarios that see humans as the center of and reason for the existence of the universe and that the existence of the universe is tied to the existence of humanity which it most definitely is not). See John Nelson Darby.
zengirl
Absolutely no form whatsoever, since it's fictional. At some point, as thatone said, the planet will eventually die -- whether we kill it or spatial bodies do, but that is not The Rapture.
Trimmer
I'm not joking. I'm seriously interested in what form people believe that the rapture (or end of the world in general) will take. I think it will periodically take the form that a "spiritual leader" will rally his (because it's usually a "him") followers to ready themselves, and then when the appointed time passes with nothing changed, he will either say "oops, I made a miscalculation" or "ah, the awesome faith of you believers has inspired God to spare the entire earth!" And then it will happen again. Lather, rinse, repeat. And then the 5 billion year thing.
TaraMaiden
this planet will cease to exist in about 4 billion years when our galaxy collides with andromeda. the end. Woah! I'm taking a packed lunch and a flask, together with a bag of popcorn for that one! On second thoughts, I think I'll take a ground-rug too, because apparently the whole process is set to take about 2billion years.... so I'll take my knitting too. Anyone for chicken wings....? BTW... is that UK billion, or American billion? I think it would help to know....)
wuggle
I can see I'm behind the times, I have just asked on another daft thread when this "rapture" thing is due.....4 billion years you say ? , damn, I'm definitely going to have to pay my credit card off was hoping I could get away with it.....pass the popcorn

writergal
Maybe director Ridley Scott's new movie can shed some light on the next Rapture for us? After all, there's been so many false alarm raptures over the years where people have left their jobs, homes, lost their money and some have even lost their lives all for what? Belief in a fictional event that isn't even supported by the bible.
Trimmer
i dunno, are the outlying stars in galaxies the bigger ones typically? or the other way around? what happens when two black holes collide? honest questions, really have no idea. Look up an Astrophysicist/Author named Neil deGrasse Tyson, and put in a request at your local library for a book of his called "Death by Black Hole." It's all fascinating, but specifically, read the chapter "Ends of the World." In short, we're about 7 billion years from a collision with the Andromeda galaxy, but there's so much empty space even within a galaxy that there aren't likely to be a huge number of stars actually crashing into each other, at least not out here on the spiral arm. Large gas clouds may well crash together, but the predominant interactions would likely be gravitational. Stars passing by each other will perturb orbits of planets, asteroids, etc, from their nice stable rhythms, and could either "capture" planets, or send them off whirling into interplanetary space, where things get mighty cold pretty quickly. Another cool effect - as stars hurtle towards the black hole at the galactic center, if some manage to graze by without being swallowed, they can convert huge amounts of potential energy as they fall down towards the black hole, converting it to kinetic energy (velocity) and given the right trajectory conditions, can be ejected at huge velocities, as if from a slingshot. If you like reading about this kind of thing, get that book - it's full of neat stuff. Including the likely scenario for our sun exhausting its hydrogen fuel 5 billion years from now (damn, we may not see the galaxy collision...), causing the Sun's collapse, and initiating Helium-Carbon fusion, which will be so hot it will then expand the sun's outer layers, most likely to swallow the orbits of Mercury, Venus, and eventually Earth - some time after it boils off our oceans and turns our surface to a crispy red-hot crust. Talk about your global warming! That's what form the rapture might take.
