dyeing my hair at home turned into a mess

Recommended Posts

I just tried a hair dye that I really like. The dye got all over the place and now my mother is mad at me for it.Now she wants me to pay to have it done at a salon.Everything is my fault.I feel like crying. She says I dont put the dye in evenly.

Why cant I do what I want with my money? I work for it and if I want to do my hair at home what is wrong with that?

nothing is wrong with that as long as you don't damage her stuff in the process :)

Hi Patty

May I remind you that it is your hair, your choice, your favorite colour etc? Do the best you can to clean the mess, replace the towell that are dirty or buy new ones and... try not to let your mom walk all over you, will you?

I konw it's tough, she still needs to controll you because you're her baby and everything, but there is absolutely nothing wrong with sticking to your own oppinion, good or bad and demand her to respect it.

Don't cry, concentrate on a way out of this situation... it can't be that bad! Plus... why make a tragedy out of it? I like having my hair done in a saloon. I say next time you follow her advice, unless, of course, this has nothing to do with the dye, but with other things (you know, like... freedome of choice which comes with independance, maybe?!?)

PAtty,

If she's mad, the last good thing to do is leave. I think you should not allow her to have this power over you, to make you feel that bad. You didn't flunk any exam, didn't end up in jail, didn't end up preagnant etc. You dyed your hair!!! What's with all this drama?!? Snap out of it, girl, call a gilr-friend, b*tch about your mom's nasty ways and have some icecream... Crying gives you wrinkles!

no, honey, you can talk all you want about that! I mean dramma for you. IT is wrong to get caught up in our little fights, our little things that make us unhappy, especially whe, there's no need to. You did nothing wrong, IMO and I believe that for some reason, your mom loves tormenting you...

if you feel like venting go ahead :) !

Patty~ I completely can relate to wanting to communicate with my parents and I am just not able to get the words out of my mouth. I hated that! I started to write notes, and letters to them and it really worked for me. They would in turn, write me back. It made a huge difference.

If the dye is still wet, you may want to try using shampoo on a wash cloth. I dye my hair and I always get it on the floors, walls shelves. It is a skill to do it w/o making some sort of a mess. ( you may want to ask Mom to help you color your hair next time, she may feel you dont need her any more~It is hard on us Moms when our babies start becoming independent)

Patty, try putting a garbage bag over the surface where you're going to be dyeing your hair. That way you can just chuck it out when you're done!

We all learn from our mistakes. She has right to gripe at you if you damaged the rug or stained on the flooring. I know money is the issue lot of times.

But don't feel that you have to spend $50 outside to get your hair colored. I'm with you...on doing it at home for $15 as long as you protect the floor and take precaution. You can ask one of your close friend to do yours and do her if you want to make sure it's done right. Sometimes you can't really see back of your head.

It could be worse!!

I tried to highlight my hair once and turned it a hideous orange in streaks. I had to call in late to work the next morning and get an emergency appointment with my cousin, who worked in a salon, and get it all dyed dark brown to cover the orange. My hair was brown anyway, but it was brown with highlights so the dark brown was really obvious. I've never tried that again at home since!!

Hope you're feeling a little better today :)

You know what I find to be the least messy way to do it? First off, make sure you get an old rag, not a towel that your mom is going to flip out over. Then, dye your hair the way you shampoo. squirt some into your hands, and spread it through your hair. And youll find the mess factor is way less. And I hope your other hair color experience works out as well, what with work and everything. You know what yo utell them? For just an extra 75cents more, they cant get a super size of FU*K OFF! J/K
