i am def thinking about getting it done. i think the best idea for me would be to wait until allergy season is done. i have really severe allergies and the thought of constantly blowing my nose while there is a hole in it trying to heal is just painful :(

Hey Eina,

I have allergies too, and thought it might be weird with a freshly pierced nose, but I asked some other people who have their's pierced, and they said it's really not a problem. Most people have said after a day or two you almost forget you even have a stud in!

Maybe the other girls with their noses pierced here can confirm this for us.

I say get your's done this weekend!! :D

getting my nose pierced (and the couple of days that followed) was next to painless-it was certainly a lot better than getting my nipple pierced and i even managed to forget that i had had that done within a few days.

Hi Jenifer,

Just saw your posting while btwsin the net. I am a 30 yr old gut from India and like nose piercing. most of the ladies here have pierced their nose. Recently, a 37 yr old lady had her nose pierced. She is currently wearing a thin tread like nose ring. I've seen ladies appreciating her new piercing. If you want to know some info mail me at (removed email).

Regards.

Shree.

Just remember, when they pierce you...they pierce you with a big stud....for healing purposes..you wont be able to get the little tiny cute diamond stud for about 2 months. Its dangerous to pierce with a small ring. they say it might fall through. so they have to pierce you whit something big. Other than that..........go for it! My mom got hers done at 35!

Good for you girl having the courage to do it! I assume that you checked out the place's sterilization procedures, etc. S/He used gloves, right?

I've had mine pierced for 14 years. I love mine too and I'm a professional. I've never had anyone that I work with tell me, ask me or recommend to me, "Take it out."

Oh, now that you've been body pierced and something to keep in mind in case you want more... I'm scarred from my nipple piercing; I took it out 10 years ago and I STILL have problems with it. Don't do it.

I have a tiny silver stud in my left nostril. I LOVE it. I worked in a professional position in corporate sales, working with business and school districts. I have never gotten a negative comment about it. Its small, discrete and from what I have been told sexy.

I think the funniest thing was a discussion with a friend where I commented that I was thinking of getting a piercing and contemplating where. He commented "anywhere but your eyebrow or nose." To which I started laughing. We have known each other for three years and he never noticed. :D

Age is all about attitude.

Jen, if you are in the San Fancisco Bay Area Cold Steel is the place to go. They are awesome and professional. I have gotten more than one piercing there, and they are top notch.

Tam and Paul are amazing, they will make you comfortable, and they are extremely clean. Paul is part of the international piercers guild.

Hi blues fix,

I am in late 40's and wanna get my nostril pierced. My daughter is saying a thick silver ring would suit me. Should I go for a ring or stud. What are you sporting on your nose?

I think hoops are pretty hot. My wife has a stud in right now, but I think I just figured out her next little surprise gift. She's never had a hoop in before, and it would be a cool little change.

I opted for the teeny tiny diamond stud in my right nostril. I LOVE it!! I'm honestly not a fan of the hoop, I prefer the dainty look with the stud. I have gotten so many positive comments, and hear things like "cute and stylish", "hip yet tasteful" and "classy and professional". I totally recomend it to you girls!! Get yours done, and send me pics!!!

You don't do it; you go get it done at a body piercing shop. Where conditions are sterile... the piercer should take the needle out of the package and put in a piece of your choice.

What do you guys think, am I too old? =(

I'm 16, and pierced my nose myself... I have a little silver ball in it. It's a cute piercing, and in my opinion looks good on older women as well. It's another way of expressing yourself, you're not too old 4 that! I admire that you want a nose piercing beings that most people your age think it's a "fad." :) Good luck!

Greetings,

Well I just turned 54 years *young* and I had my nose pierced on my birthday :)

Very happy about/with it I had it done with a Needle by a pro and things were OK but after two weeks I got tired of the *screw* that was in and tried to change it. What a mistake!!

I had been to Wal-Mart and saw these *cute* little screws that looked so much better than my original piercing jewelry *oh boy was that a joke :(

As it were I wound up not being able to get the new one in *or the old one back in* but thank the God/dess my hubby had bought me a 16 Gauge 14k nickel free *Star* but it was not bent, rather a straight gold *pin*.

I had to go around all night until noon the next day when the piercing shop opened looking like I had a bone in my nose as it looked so long :)

When the piercing shop opened they bent my gold star and the piercing was quite swollen for a few days but now that has been over a week and things are once again starting to look better :)

Can hardly wait until I am healed all the way as I am going to be *bold* and put a 22-24k Stud with a Dangle in it.

Don't do it yourself people the hole won't be big enough to accommodate much of a selection in jewelry.

Blessed Be & Live Free

"Your only as old as you feel"~

tagging on to the nose piercing subject, I got mine done two and half weeks ago. It hurt, but it only hurt for about a minute. Once the needle was in it quit hurting. It hurt a bit on the way out, too, but then it wasn't even sore. I do have that ever unpopular "bump" you hear about, but I'm following the guidelines for care of it. I LOVE my piercing. I think it looks so good. I have a pink square stud. (Since I was pierced in October I got pink in honor of breast cancer awareness month.) You'll love it. It's the prettiest place to be pierced!

i have 11 piercings and i have to say that my nose is my absolute FAVORITE! i suggest anyone who wants to get it done, do it. i work as a teaching assisntant in the fall and spring and a field biologist in the summers. it never gets in the way and attracts good comments from everyone.

you are not too old to get it done. in fact, i think it's so awesome if someone around the age of my parents or even older gets it done, it shows that it's just a fun and safe way to express yourself. remember it's NOT something permanent like a tattoo, and you can change it after it heals to fit whatever mood you're in.

make sure you find a good piercing place (i.e. sterile, safe, professional...) and GOOD LUCK! you will love it, i guarantee it. i have many what would be considered 'contemporary' piercings, yet this tradtionally Indian piercing is my favorite by far! post pics!!
