msyk75
I HAVE BEEN DATING THIS GUY FOR A LITTLE OVER A YEAR AND HE IS TALKING ABOUT MARRIAGE! LET ME EXPLAIN MY SITUATION, HE WAS NEVER MARRIED I WAS. MY HUSBAND DIED THREE YEARS AGO AND I DON'T KNOW IF I CAN LET GO OF WHAT WE HAD. I HAVE TWO BEAUTIFUL CHILDREN THAT ADORE MY NEW BF SO MUCH. I NEVER THOUGHT SOMEONE COULD TAKE MY CHILDREN AND TREAT THEM AS THEIR OWN. I KNOW I WANT TO BE WITH HIM BUT MY THEORY IS "WHY FIX SOMETHING THAT IS NOT BROKE?" RIGHT? SO IF WE ARE HAPPY WHY GET MARRIED? SOME DAYS I FEEL LIKE I WOULD LOVE TO BE HIS MRS. BUT THEN I DON'T WANT TO LOSE THE FREEDOM EITHER. I AM CONTENT WITH HIM AND DON'T WANT ANYONE ELSE. HELP ME SHOULD I GIVE IN OR JUST BE HAPPY WITH LIFE THE WAY IT IS?
msrealdoll
If you have to "give in", I would say don't do it. Marriage is not something you give in to, it should be something you really want. Having been married before, you know that it's not all play-it takes serious work and commitment. So, until you want it very badly, put it off.
Matilda
I agree, I don't think when you get married you should feel like you're "giving in". Does he want to get married very badly? If so, realize that he might not want to hang around forever if he really wants to get married. A year together doesn't really seem that long to me though.
