racist manager. happy day its his last day

i have this manager who sit next to my in a big office. this started for 5 months. in beginning i was sitting far away but for the job everybody moves from desk to desk. its a call centre.

at first he was ok . he goes around talks to everyone and a friendly guy. i thought he was a cool guy and he always came to my desk makin chit chat and what i did on the weekend.

 

later on he gets news hes moving to east coast since his gf got a job there. so today was his last day , but yesterday since we sit next to each other we always say hey or say something. no long conversations as we have to be working. but there are breaks and delays-computer loading, signing onto the computer, logging in and during this delay we make small talk be in weekend, dating, ....etc

during the afternoon he tells ppl around our desk hes having a yard sale .

me--are you selling a aquariam by any chance

manager-why do you want one?

me-i got some gold fish and maybe buy some koi

manager-why dont you get some real fish like a shark or angel fish

me-those are expensive hehe

manager-why dont you just dig a whole in your yard and put gold fish there like all you ASIANS do

me-oh and look at his face-he has a serious look

 

what the heck -yea all us asians hey. right

 

another story. we talking about dating and how a friend of mine told me how women have a type of guy they go for-be it tall blonde white male, or asian educated male, or lebron james type of guy. they all have a type and he agrees too

manager-most or all girls dont like asian guys

me -how do you know this

manager-i know a lot of ppl

me-well some do

manager-well yea the tradional ones

me-pause 3 minutes later i say why do you think most girls dont like asian guys

manager- displays the pinky finger(indicating well small tool)

me -most girl i met just want me to buy things for them and want dinner paid too thats my problem

manager-yea most you guys or asians-not sure what he said -have all the money

he says all this in serious way too and its not like we are in any way friendship or tight .

i know what it means and its racist. not professional as a manager.

other time we talk about cars and i ask him if he had load of money would he get an audi r8 and he tells me he rather get a domestic car. i ask him why and he said b/c he wants to support hard working north americans first .

if he was still working there i would have went to the manager. since hes leaving theres no point and i dont want to cause any friction between the managers and workplace. hes like this since he can get away with it. hes leaving the city and the company. also who going believe a junior employee over an older senior manager. on top of it the highers managers are all white and hes white. so who are they going vouch and believe. so i didnt bother going to the top boss

 

i really hate this manager guys guts. today i didnt talk to at all and he noticed this. he tried to make conversation and i just answered one word(like all the girls at library do to me when i sarge them) . they had a party and he gave me cake but i just bought it home and gave to my family. i just listend to my music on break too. he moving to a smaller city which be better for him since its less multi cultural -he be happier.

they had a drinking beer party with him after work since it was his last day. he ask me to come and i just said i dont drink. --in my mind im like yea goin to your going away party yea right. you have to buy me steak, alaskan king crab, and i might think about it. im not wasting my money and time . no way. i rather sarge

some people are just socially inept. i really don't think this guy was being racist. he would not have asked you to do things or come to the party if he was. he really was probably interested in your culture but was awkward.

 

i look white and have been discriminated for looking white and being female and it isn't awkward dumb comments, it is meanness.

 

i get some really dumb comments about amercians like we are all carrying guns and there are b oms going off every day and how dumb we are and fat and slow and lazy.

 

racism is when the manager is indian and wont hire whites or other races but indian.

 

racism is when i was in hong kong and i was being followed around in the stores like a criminal and then when i go to check out the woman glares at me and says something rude about me in chinese which i understood but she didnt think i did and then waited on all the other chinese customers before me.

If you're going to complain about "racism"... you need to bring actual "racism" among your cited examples.

 

Now maaaaaaaaaaaaybe the one about the pinky finger implies others are somehow better... but in all other cases the things cited by the OP are mere stereotypes, and not racism.

 

Does anybody include in a rant about actual racism a reference to goldfish in an outdoor tank/pool?

 

Geez, a parrot could have said the things this guy allegedly said, and it would be difficult to deem a parrot "racist". The parrot (and the guy) are just repeating stereotypes thrown around long before either had an independent thought.
