Supporting one's loved one's physical dreams?

Hello :)

My hubby and I are watching American Ninja Warrior! It's cool how these guys fight through an obstacle course with the goal to make it to victory!

My hubby says that he wants to do this. He is very strong and enjoys extreme sports. However, I am a little iffy about encouraging him to actually train to do this! Would you encourage your loved one to do/strive for something you and your loved one don't know very much about?

I personally would like to learn how to belly dance lol. It looks so beautiful. However, when I watch the Zumba class going on in the gym, I think "I don't know how to dance... how am I going to even start!" (When I was growing up, my parents didn't allow me to go to dances with guys, and I have never gone as an adult.) I did have ballet class for 1 year as a kid, but that was different!

So, how would you go about supporting your loved one's physical dreams? My hubby encourages me to go to class, but I get shy. I don't like people watching me when I don't know what I'm doing lol. As for my hubby, I don't know if he seriously wants to train hard to compete for this American Ninja Warrior, but I do think it's cool! I'm just worried that he will get hurt!

How is the best way to support someone's dreams when you don't personally share them? Thanks.

What have you and your loved one's goals and how do y'all support each other to fulfill them?

I don't think you need to do anything. just say that is cool and listen and that is all you need to do.

The truth is a lot of people want to do something but very few people actually

go through with all the work it takes to accomplish it.

it is likely he will be too unmotivated to call about the training or train for a few months and quit.

so really nothing to worry about.

He is pretty stubborn when he gets an idea that really intrigues him, but yeah I don't know how serious he is yet... time will tell. Thanks for the advice. :) It is exciting to think about, anyways! Yea it looks like it takes a lot of training and ganas (desire).

If he does start training for a few months, I hope he won't quit.
