What is so wrong with wanting a woman that treats you well

Recommended Posts

I would assume most reasonable women want a man that treats them well and doesn't constantly put them down or make snide remarks or verbally abuse so why is it wrong for men to want the same in a woman?

Why is it that when men say they want a woman who respects them and is loving we are accused of wanting a slave or wanting a stepford or being afraid of strong women. Are we supposed to want nasty and mean women who treat us like crap in order to not be accused of being misogynists?

Simply put? Yes.

Woggle, don't you realize by now that topics like this are the very source of your bitterness? No (sane) woman would consider a guy wrong for wanting a woman that treats them well--yet you seem to fixate on the negative that you might read on some blog or some random female poster, then actually believe it applies to most women.

Come on, now.

I'd say that it's a simple matter of jealousy.

These words come from the very women who don't possess the attributes and personality to be respectful and loving. So they will naturally hate on the good women who get all the good men...the very good men who wouldn't touch these jealous women with a 30 ft pole...

You can be strong and independent while also being loving and respectful. I think the quality of "strong" is often misused...

But that is merely speculation on my part...

Then how come in another thread somebody said that a guy wants a slave because he wanted to be treated well?

Who is saying this? I'm not hearing this anywhere.

Dude, that person is obviously a moron! Why bother acknowledging someone who'd make a moronic comment like that? Is there a reason why you put so much stock into what some random people say?

But you didn't even blink when the OP equated not cleaning, cooking, caring for children, being loud, lazy and vindictive to be MAN behavior. He said women like the above description were ACTING LIKE MEN.

Yet you're not ruffled about that at all.

They are emulating what they think are the worst male stereotypes in the name of empowerment. I also read a Daily Mail article where some women in the comments were actually praising a woman who falsely accused her ex of abusing.

How many times are you going to let that crap tabloid piss you off with its fiction?

And I don't know how you can assume the thoughts of people someone else described or what the motivations are for their actions. The OP is a guy and HE described that behavior as manly behavior. But *sigh* the OP has a penis and we all know how much you are in love with penis. So much so that complete a stranger's penis is enough for you to turn a blind eye to their anti male sexist comments.

It's not fiction. Their comments section is a good example of how people think.

I just think you need to stop looking for reasons to be angry with women, Woggle. It's tiresome.

Maybe because you're more focused on being right than wrong.

Either way, my point stands. You seem too fixated on the negative aspects certain women display rather than focus on the positive aspects many women display.

There's nothing wrong with that at all.

But I suggest that you're being disingenuous Woggle by starting a thread like this because it implies that you want a woman who treats you well and people are disparaging you for wanting one. However:

You already have a woman who treats you well. In your own words, she's a gem.

Do you want another woman who treats you well? Are you speaking up for the guys on this board who don't have such a woman?

What is it that you want, that you don't already have?

Everything...

It's all about perspective. We choose that.

Yes.

And Woggle, that poster who used the word slave said, IN FULL:

I believe slave is correct term you are looking for.

If the woman works full time and assumes all household chore roles ( NOT feminine as you put it )...what does the man do after work?

These things should be shared.

God forbid the woman have a hobby, interests, or friends that might make her busy a few nights a week.

FYI I am Canadian.

In other words, she was suggesting that these chores should be equal, and NOTHING like what you mischaracterized her as saying. It is COMPLETELY disingenuous that you read it as you did. You're doing exactly what people keep accusing you of doing - picking and choosing the bits you don't like, ignoring the bits that don't confirm what you want to believe women think or say about men.

That is, in a nutshell, exercising confirmation bias. That poster who started that thread only did it to piss people off on the forum, and it worked, and like flies drawn to manure, it drew you in too. Gullible. And the funny part is, you're not mad at the thread-starter, you're mad at the people who responded to it with indignation. Nice. You could have just as easily noted his shxt-stirring. I notice you don't seem to see anything amiss in that. Again, confirmation bias.

Ugh, although I often feel like you're going to find some peace and be level-headed, you just so clearly don't want to. And your issues are all your own fault at this point. Your ex wife, your mom - they are now irrelevant. You are your own worst enemy. You are now doing all of this to yourself. Enjoy your anger, and I hope it keeps you warm at night.

What is wrong with that, Woggle? Be grateful that you have a woman who loves you, married you and treats you well. It seems odd that you would post as though you don't have any of this. There are a number of guys on here who want what you have. Therefore, it seems bad form to post as if you were one of them. I'd go so far as to say that even in their darkest hour, none of the guys have posted as bitterly as you have about women.

From what you've said, you had a terrible time before you met your wife. Life has thrown you a bone. Why aren't you happily chewing it?

Don't even. That particular poster took what SHE wanted to out of the post and used it to make the OP seem wrong, she did not gather the point of the statement. She just wanted to be an angry, bitter, feminazi.

Where? On the Daily Mail and HuffPost?

I've already suggested you try NPR.org for your news. As for gender stuff, foster community IRL, and forget about the internet.

You need to learn to "consider the source".

Do you think she sounds like a stepford wife?

Your wife is not Stepford. Stop even asking about that. Don't you know your wife best? Why are you so concerned with what strangers think of your wife and your marriage??? Strangers with horrible relationships, at that!

Do you think she sounds like a stepford wife?

No, I don't. And it wouldn't be a bad thing if she were, if that is what she is happy doing and what you want.

My personal opinion is that she sounds like a woman who loves you and wants to be with you. You deserve to be happy, Woggle. If only you would let go and allow yourself to be. From what I've seen, nearly everything posted on the forums is just somone else's opinion. They are not right or wrong in and of themselves. You can, however, agree with them or not. But it would be disingenious to post as though your situation were much worse than it is. Within the rules of the forum, you can do that, if you so wish, but you'd lose a lot of credibility and you'd just be stuck in the same bitter cycle. Can you really continue like this for years without moving forward and appreciating the life that you have?

Instead, how about using your experience of rising from the ashes to help and advise other guys who are not so fortunate? Now that really would be something!
