CdnClass88
I agree, I've met some very pretty women with great personalities OLD. Yes, there have been some other situations where their pictures we more attractive than what I saw in person, which is fine, anybody is going to throw up their top 2 or 3 picture. But it wasn't a difference to this extent, they were identifiable.
phineas
Oh yes!!! The problem is, I am 5'8". I wold be open to dating someone that is 5'8" but when they say that on OLD profile, they are actually 5'6" :/ I see my problem with OLD. I'm 5'8" & put that down. I also use recent full body pictures showing i'm not overweight. I need to lie, say i'm athletic & use myspace angles.
JuneJulySeptember
... I didn't want the conversation to go this route but you must defend. I'm talking a prius to a hummer difference. Wait. Is this analogy referring to her price tag quality or her change in size?
sabre80
Is it that common with OLD? A male friend told me that nearly all women he met were much heavier in real life than on the pics. My experience says this is true. It is sad that the majority of these threads devolve into accusations of being shallow. Look I have no problem taking a larger lady out on a date if she has a great personality and we have clicked in correspondence. But when I show up and you look nothing like your picture, you have lied to me. I am not talking camera illusion little bit heavier or has a few zits. I am talking 10 years 60 pounds. Women who do this start any potential relationship on a lie. Whatever respect I had for your personality is gone now because even that to is subject to question truth or fiction. I got so tired of holding my anger at being lied to and putting on a classy face for an enjoyable evening I started just doing an about face and going home. Yea I may be a jerk but you are a liar.
phineas
The point is, though, is that she misrepresented herself. I get the idea it doesn't matter to this guy. He just wants to call people shallow while also making sure to tell us how enlightened he is.
FitChick
I never cease to be amazed at the stupidity of people who continue to post old or obscured photos of themselves, since it is common knowledge by now that everyone hates it and it is counterproductive. Some people just live in denial so they can blame the opposite sex for their dating woes. Some have a bait and switch mentality by posting an older photo as their main one, then when you click on their profile to see the others you notice the hair is thinner and/or grayer, hairline has receded, the belly is bigger, there are a few more chins. Using the excuse that it is a really good photo of them, period, isn't legitimate. One of my best photos of myself was taken when I was three years old holding a puppy. If I wanted to attract pedophiles, I'd use that one! Men have always told me I looked exactly like my photos or better. What they see is what they get (if they are lucky!). Bito
I work in IT. I produce electronic music. Most of my days are spent on a screen. dont do online daiting. Its a crap shoot. Go meet people face to face. it works.
ThaWholigan
I seem to get more action from POF than OKC. And what's weird is I use the same pics on OKC that i use on POF lol Different kind of girls. I find myself more attracted to the girls on POF - OKC seems to have more artsy, or particularly different kinds of girls, whereas POF has girls I would normally regularly come into contact with. There are more feminists on OKC, I've noticed. More polyamorous women on there too. At least in my area anyway. Either way, there are slight differences.

outsidethebox
I don't understand the paid POF services complaint. I'm a subscriber on OKC (for a few weeks now). I don't have to be. The extras are worth it to me. If they weren't, I wouldn't subscribe. What's difficult to understand about that? I've read a few POF threads but the ones I read didn't happen to be as interesting as some of the ones I've read here on LoveShack, so have been reading here. I probably should check into a POF profile. That's interesting about the differences you guys point out.

Figure you'd be better off using that money on say match, which IMO has a lot better clientele than OKC and POF combined

Well, I mean obviously the people who own those sites should be able to do what they want with them. Keep them free, make them pay only, or some hybrid of the two. I would never pay for a dating site because I feel like with my record, I'd be better off just standing on a street corner and burning the cash. I'm likely to pay for a site and then still be dateless for two years like I am now.

But nit with a former free site that suddenly turned into a pay site lol

outsidethebox
Not sure why extra services for a fee is being blurred with terminology that sounds like you have to pay to continue being a member. Extra services for a fee on POF was listed by Philly. Extra services on OKC (AList) isn't a lot but they're still adding. Added some more today. I'm not suggesting the extra services will ensure success. I'm suggesting offering premium paid services for those who want it is a good business model and nothing that anyone could conceivably complain about, yet there was a post complaining about it. PhillyDude
Well Craigslist will always be free so I won't have to worry about OKC and POF if they turn into Paid dating sites
outsidethebox
So you're implying being locked out bof a free site because some premium paid services are being offered. That's just bizarrely paranoid. I'd off you a tinfoil hat but you'd think it was wired.
