Never happened to me before.

I'm 20, she's 22. We met close to this time last year and hit it off really well. A couple of weeks later, I ask her to be my girlfriend and she accepts. It's a long distance relationship but we make it work, as she comes down to see me about once per month. I get the chance of a lifetime and get to study abroad in Europe, separating us for 4.5 months. It was difficult to be apart for so long, but we got to spend a wonderful week together afterwards. Fast forward to last week. Somehow we get on the topic of confidence issues and I realize that she's extremely depressed and I would be worrying about her safety if we should break-up. I then told her about my possible situation for the rest of my college career (1.5-2 years) and she freaked out about how little time she might get to actually see me. She's coming to see me in less than 48 hours to celebrate our 1-year anniversary this weekend, and I'm working at my internship most everyday and she made a big fuss about it, even though I'm taking time off to pick her up from the bus and taking off all of Friday to be with her. I'm in a very professional work environment and it's difficult to request time off. She comes from a very boring, quiet part of Ohio, and I'm in the bustling New York city area, and I'm starting to wonder if she's getting attached to me to get out of the life of Ohio or if she's genuinely attracted to me. I mean, I know that she's attracted to me, but I'm starting to wonder if it's more than just the whole, loving me for who I am.

 

I apologize if it sounds like my grammar is off or if I'm angry. I'm exhausted right now and need to sleep. This kind of thing has never happened in our relationship.

You're both very young. Girls get attached, no news. If you have to work, make sure you'll be with her the whole time when you get off from work. Can you spend nights with her?

 

I guess it's too late now, maybe she's already back home.
