Tricky one.

B) Never heard that one

Correct!

The answer is B.

"Divine counsel" may have a nice ring to it, but it's found nowhere in the Bible.

"Men" is another tricky one. In several places, the narrative refers to angels as "men"--mostly from the standpoint of people nearby, but it still refers to the angels as "men" from time to time.

A poster said Christ is the only reference to Son of God. That is not entirely correct. But this is a subject which needs a truly exhaustive understanding of the Bible. Christ, while THE Son of God (singular), is unlike the other sons of God in that he had no creation. John the Gospel says he was with God the Father in the beginning. It also says, "Unto which of the angels said He at any time: Thou art my Son, and today I have begotten Thee." So his role as a "son" is not so much in that he was created or made, but rather he is part of the trinity and serves the role of obeying the Father's will to perfection--even though he is God himself. Very hard to grasp.

B :)

Since this is too short of a response per LS rules...I'll add one.

When Jesus was arrested He said He could call how many legions of angels to rescue Him?

a) 10

b) 11

c) 12

d) 13

e) 14

Bonus: How many individual angels would your answer include?

I'm gonna guess...

C (twelve)

I figure 12 is a common number in the Bible. And what about a legion? I'm not sure how many in a legion. Isn't it kind of a non-specific number?

Correct! Well at least 12 ;)

“Put your sword back in its place,” Jesus said to him, “for all who draw the sword will die by the sword. Do you think I cannot call on my Father, and he will at once put at my disposal more than twelve legions of angels? But how then would the Scriptures be fulfilled that say it must happen in this way?”

Yeah, it can vary...most would say at least 5,000/legion.

For me when I consider the garden experience and the immediate ability of Christ to end it, it humbles me. He is much stronger than I.

Any guess why Jesus might have said 12 legions?

12 seems to be the number of people/groups in a position of power...like 12 disciples, 12 tribes of Israel, etc.

Good point!

No way to prove this, but there were 11 disciples (Judas betrayed in the garden) and Jesus, so 12 legions or 1 legion each. No way of knowing what type of angels, but the angel of the Lord single highhandedly killed 185,000 Assyrian soldiers in 2 Kings 19, so I can imagine it was more than enough ;)

Hezekiah’s Prayer

15And Hezekiah prayed to the Lord: “O Lord, God of Israel, enthroned between the cherubim, you alone are God over all the kingdoms of the earth. You have made heaven and earth. 16Give ear, O Lord, and hear; open your eyes, O Lord, and see; listen to the words Sennacherib has sent to insult the living God.

17“It is true, O Lord, that the Assyrian kings have laid waste these nations and their lands. 18They have thrown their gods into the fire and destroyed them, for they were not gods but only wood and stone, fashioned by men’s hands. 19Now, O Lord our God, deliver us from his hand, so that all kingdoms on earth may know that you alone, O Lord, are God.”

“Therefore this is what the Lord says concerning the king of Assyria:“He will not enter this city

or shoot an arrow here.

He will not come before it with shield

or build a siege ramp against it.

33By the way that he came he will return;

he will not enter this city,

declares the Lord.

34I will defend this city and save it,

for my sake and for the sake of David my servant.”

35That night the angel of the Lord went out and put to death a hundred and eighty-five thousand men in the Assyrian camp. When the people got up the next morning—there were all the dead bodies! 36So Sennacherib king of Assyria broke camp and withdrew. He returned to Nineveh and stayed there.

37One day, while he was worshiping in the temple of his god Nisroch, his sons Adrammelech and Sharezer cut him down with the sword, and they escaped to the land of Ararat. And Esarhaddon his son succeeded him as king.

Sweet man. If there's one thing that has affected me on a day to day level as a result of my study on UFOs (as being angels) it's that they are freaking real and they are here.
