SnowWhite
I recently went to get a breast exam but it was not with my usual gyno it was with another general practice doctor. I've only had one breast exam before when I turned 18 and it was with my female gyno. I thought it was going to be a little awkward to have some older guy I had just met see me topless but oddly enough when I got there I wasn't even concerned anymore. So when we started the breast exam I made a comment jokingly like " Pffft, I don't even know why I have to have a breast exam I'm too young to get breast cancer" And rather shocking to me the doctor replied "Well you're right you are too young to get breast cancer" The female nurse and I kind of got this really shocked look on our face and she quickly added that its good to get in the habit because even though it is unlikely it does happen. Anyways my point to this post was this male doctor spent about 8 or 9 mintues giving me this breast exam and afterwards my chest was so sore I felt like someone had been kneading it like bread. While my female gyno exam was only about two mintues long at most. Are some guy doctors just overly cautious and spend alot of time on the breast exam? How long do breast exams usually last? CurlyIam
8 9 minutes? Are you kidding me? A couple of minutes top!!!! s/he should feel the eventual lumps, and yes, there is some milddiscomfort, not hurt, not nothing! It is not normal!!! Even if he meant well!!!!
moimeme
Are you sure it was 8 or 9 minutes or did it just seem interminable?
sami
If you are not really comfortable it will seem longer. However, 8 to 9 minutes is just way too much. How were you feeling about the whole thing?. Were you really kind of enjoying it or you were somehow disturbed. It all depends on your reaction at the time. Why didn't you ask him to stop it ?. There is something missing here so to speak. Author SnowWhite
No trust me I'm positive after 19 years I know how to tell time. I didn't feel uncomfortable or anything like that when it was going on so I know I didnt just imagine an extra five mintues. Maybe he just lost track of time because we were having a conversation?? I dunno...I just assumed all breast exams took different lengths of time.
sami
Was he wearing gloves, if I may ask?. That will help us guess if he was overdoing or enjoying it. My second question is: Have you noticed any unusal weird kind of body signal from his side. If so, what was your reaction then?
Author SnowWhite
Well since he is not my normal doctor this was the first time I had met him. So no there weren't any weird signals. and no he didn't wear gloves but neither did my female gyno when I got an exam a year ago.
sami
Obviously there was nothing at all to warrant your concern. If you may be seeing him again in the future just tell him that you don't think it should really take that long.
