villageman
My life more or less fell apart last year, with the break-up of a 2 year relationship being the final straw. I freaked out about a lack of a career which led me to go to grad school. That meant moving far away from my girlfriend whom I lived with, who then left me several months later, and along with that took all of the things that we'd owned together. Right now, I'm 30, soon to be 31, and I have almost no life of my own. My relationship, the place where I lived, my previous job, and almost all of my possessions are gone. In a year I'll be finished with school and can start to rebuild my life, but it seems like an almost impossible task at the moment. So first, anyone out there have any tips for how to best put together a life from scratch, after everything has fallen apart? And also, if anyone out there has done anything like this, made a better life after their old life fell to pieces, I'd love to hear your story. Thanks
pteromom
Small steps. One thing at a time. What is within your control, that you can do TODAY, that will make your life better? It can be anything. Start with one thing. Then do the next thing. It really isn't hard; it just takes time and commitment and patience. Lastly, you are not defined by what you have - relationships, a home, a job. You may want these things, but just because you don't have them now doesn't mean you do not have a life. You have a life... it just isn't your IDEAL life. Which takes me back to my starting point. What can you do in this moment to start taking steps toward the life you want?
