Bill_123
I am going through a relatively simple uncontested divorce. The lawyer gave me paperwork to fill out. I filled it out and turned it in-in a snap. They told me the final paperwork would be done early this week, Monday-Tuesday at the latest. It is now Wednesday and nothing. The Lawyer (only one lawyer associated with this business that I know of) was super nice at initial consultation and afterwards every time I've spoken to her. Her office assistant seems to know nothing about the forms and is very rude on the phone telling me not to call back anymore and that they will call me when they are done. The assistant told me early in the week means Wednesday, but that is not who I spoke to initially or what I was told. Friday I called once, Monday I called twice (morning & afternoon) (I think), and yesterday (Tuesday) I called twice (morning & afternoon) and showed up in person at the end of the business day (lawyer was on a conference call at the time). She tells me since I was charged a flat rate they cannot bill me for time spent on calls (less than 1 minute each). I have been nothing but polite. What do I do? The lawyer has already collected all fees associated. I haven't spoken to the lawyer since last Wednesday... always the assistant picking up. Assistant pretty much says, they'll get done when they get done, and we'll call, STOP CALLING US. Assistant does not provide me any further information.. Brandroid
I'm starting to wonder if this is normal. I am pretty much going through the same thing. An easy uncontested divorce, i'm 3 weeks into it and have heard NOTHING for over a week and a half. I tried calling only to get the same answer.

Heck, I almost feel I could have written this up on my own after doing my own research. I'm not a lawyer by any means but I have a good grasp of the legal statements. It's good to know I have someone here to suffer through the waiting game with me. Did they give you an expected completion date? Edited August 8, 2012 by Bill_123

Have you been to court yet? In my particular state the lawyer said she can take the paperwork to the judge and I probably won't even need to appear.
