Contact when your partner is overseas?

Recommended Posts

I don't think its fair to compare your relationship with what other people do in theirs. Some people enjoy talking on the phone, some people prefer emails and texting. What some other girl's bf does for her shouldn't dictate what your should be doing for you. It depends on how you and your boyfriend mix together.

To answer your question though, I am in an LDR with a guy who is on vacation now. The entire trip will be 10 days long, split between two different locations. He did not get a phone card to call me but we have been using apps on our smart phones to text and send pictures over wifi. So far, he has contacted me daily, without me having to ask. I'm lucky that for us, communication is not a problem or "obligation,"....not yet anyway. We are still in the honeymoon phase.

I'd say that since you guys live together its okay for him to want to enjoy his time away from you. It doesn't have to mean that he doesn't love you anymore or there is another woman. Its perfectly healthy to want alone time or time with the guys/guys. Just wait. He will contact you when he is ready. Don't go crazy on him when he gets home.

I asked my guy friend about this. He says that he thinks you should be concerned. He suggested 1: that you propose to him that you pick him up from the airport or station or whatever and if he fights that, then something might be going on.

2: this guy should contact you at least first thing arriving to his destination so u know he is safe. He should want to talk to you without your having to prompt him. He said daily communication should be happening if its possible. If he's not in the middle of the desert, he should be able to call or email you.

A lot of information came out in your later posts that weren't mentioned in the initial post. It seems like you guys need to sit down and figure out the boundaries of your relationship. This trip he's on is is not the root of the problem.
