clintonsmith
guys...does working out on a consistent basis really drastically help recovery in a breakup scenario?
HokeyReligions
Regular exercise is great for a multitude of things---mostly for your own mental and physical overall health. Don't over do it and don't stop it once your heart heals.
Author clintonsmith
but it will make a big difference?
Blah Toolz
How can it hurt you? Besides giving you something to do to take your mind off what has happened... and improving your physical health, which are the obvious ones -- working out also releases endorphins, which in turn makes you happier. It's a chemical process of your body. You're acting like working out is going to be like taking painkillers or aspirin towards your relationship troubles... but there's nothing like that. But like I said before, it will give you something to do, and it will improve your overall physical health -- and that's the better path to take after a break up then wilting away and becoming worse in an ex's eyes, isn't it? faux
I went through an extremely bad breakup once. All the mind games you can think of were involved, as well as cheating and false accusations, court, lawyer fees, and threats of bodily harm. I took all of my frustrations out and began to exercise regularly, and changed the way that I ate. I started the journey at 190-ish, right after I nearly threw my life away over the sorry girl. After five months I was down to 145 pounds at 5'4". A few months later I got down to 135, got definition, strength, and more bulk, and now remain at a very healthy weight, even if I am still a small guy. Working out regularly after all of that crap really changed things for the better, and it's a GREAT way to relieve anger! I think it's a great way of dealing with frustrations, as it takes your mind off of them, makes you feel better, and makes you healthier. I don't see any way of going wrong with it. Just be safe and don't overwork yourself.
