Els Posted August 22, 2012 Share Posted August 22, 2012 Depending on which country he lives in, it is far too harsh to expect him to pay for half your plane ticket, IMO. Conversion rates to some Asian countries are atrocious, and the average wage even more so. Add family responsibilities to that, and many graduate workers have all of USD 100 saved up after a year. If you can well afford it, just pay for it. If you are dating someone from a 3rd world country, you need to accept that things are not going to be the same as dating a man from the same country. I generally find chivalry to be a wonderful thing, but you cannot push such gender standards into your situation. Stop comparing yourself with your friends. 1 Link to post Share on other sites
