Anyone from a Bi-racial family?

Well I guess I should start this thread off by telling you my ethnic backgrounds. My mother is full hispanic and my father is full white. I have a brother and a sister; they both turned out looking completely hispanic and I look completely white. When people would find out that I was part hispanic they would either call me a liar or a racial slur jokingly.

I guess all my life I've pretty much laughed it off. At first because I didn't understand what they meant and later because I didn't want to make it seem like it got to me.

Well recently I've been fighting with my mom and she constantly accuses me of wanting a white mother. Her and my father aren't very happy and because of cultural differences she associates white people with my dad and americans. If I told her it hurt my feelings she would just say it more because shes just that sort of person.

I never let what other people said to me get to me, but coming from her its like a slap in the face. I feel like I've lost my identity and that every slur I have ever been called is coming back. My family was always this place of solace from things like that. And I can't expect my siblings to relate since my dad doesn't really yell at them for being what color they are. Has anyone ever come from a biracial family and felt like they didn't fit? Do I just have to come to terms that people can be ignorant?

Hello. My parents are both white but I do have a cousin that got pregnant by and was going to marry a black man. He died before they got a chance to get married. Her daughter looks nothing like her. She is a beutifull little girl and she is black. Well my father had to have brain surgery and we all were in the waiting room waiting for the surgery to be over with. My little cousin and her sister (which is white and by another man) were playing on the floor and people just constantly stared at them. When my aunt would watch her and take her to public places, she would get alot of stares and a few comments also. It is just that some people are so heartless and ignorant these days. Just be proud of your heritage, keep your head up and ignore what people say.

I guess it is also hard to hear it coming from your own mother. You say that your siblings dont understand because they dont go through it. Have you tried sitting down with your father and explaining to him what your mother is putting you through?

Hope everything works out for you.
