YellowLioness
I'm just curious here... it seems some people have had some strange encounters of the ghostly kind. My bf and our best friends went to a grave yard at night and took pictures of graves. Ok. kind of hokey. But, I wanted to see if anything would appear on camera. Low and behold, I totally have a picture of a spook hovering above a grave. You can see its head, mainly, and a torso. It appears on the negatives, too. Has anyone else had ghostly encounters? Just curious. I seem to be a spook magnet. Some of my friends tease me about believing in ghosts. I just tell them, "Wait until it happens to you." My bf didn't believe me ,and used to tease me, until he spent a night in my house. lol. ;-)
Fayebelle
Yes I've seen a few...it really runs in my family. My great grandmother told my uncle when she died. Some people are just more sensitive than others. Enjoy your gift and leave them w/ the mundane land of the living.
Author YellowLioness
Ok, the pic i took IS the only ghost I've ever seen. BUT, i have heard them speak to me on several occasions. This usuallyhappens through my dreams (unless one is thumping around, or moving stuff, or whatever.) I've had people tell me to "go to a priest" but, its not just one ghost. Its like every ghost everywhere i go. lol. So, Faye... What do they look like when you see them? When they talk to me, they usually use some kind of strange voice... human, but not human... or they will speak through a voice of a friend close to me, or my bf... I've had them say that I was the conduit, that I was in danger, that there is evil around so be careful... like... all kinds of things.
EnigmaXOXO
NO FAIR! Get my skin all goose-pimply talking about "ghost pictures" without even posting a link to them! No photos. Didn't happen! PS...better not be any of those silly "orbs" either!
Fayebelle
My grandmother always told me if they didn't hurt you when they were alive they can't hurt you when they are dead....but some people carry mischief and pranks to their grave. That said- MOST ghosts who speak are helpful- therefore listen to their warnings BUT remember they may be bored and think panicing you could be fun. Remember Ghost when he realized Whoopi could hear him and he started chasing her around the rm? Same idea- not malicious- just curious. Do you ever smell anything before these encounters- I always smell flowers or like an electrical fire/burning smell. My therapist (who I see for anxiety NOT b/c I see/hear ghosts and have had premonitions) -says that studies show contacts often use more than 1 sense. I rarely hear them- have been touched by one- usually see a form but occasionally it's more of a visual glitch...like a blurring or thickening of air- but I ALWAYS smell them
tink85048
I didn't really believe in ghosts, more of a sceptic but i always kept my mind open...until i moved into my current place with my boyfriend and daughter...i would get up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom or get a drink and i swore on a couple occasions that i saw someone already in the bathroom. i even "caught" someone out of the corner of my eye coming out of the shower. i never said a word so i wouldn't seem insane. then one day my boyfriend said something at dinner about the ghost in the bathroom and my daughter agreed. i about fell over. they have both had the same experiences as me. we just catch glimpses of his presences, but we all agreed it was in the bathroom and it was a male. so i have to say i do think there is something about ghosts. Bigbear187
I've never seen one.but i heard one before. Like Im alone late at night. You can hear someone walking around. This one time. My family went to a cousins house. nobody was home.but we knock on the door. we waited, and something knocked back.we knocked again. It did the same thing.
lydiamarie
it runs in my family to be 'sensitive': we know things before they happen, and when they are happening, and see ghosts. i have too many stories to tell. but it happens all the time. i really like it a lot. it makes me feel like i must be doing something right if i have these gifts. it makes me feel chosen and centered. i don't really know how to explain it, but i find it really comforting-like i'm part of something bigger. honey2005
The other night my friends and I had a surprise birthday party for another one of our friends. After eating cake and playing some games, we went back into this unrenovated part of my friend's apartment. Well, the building he lives in used to be a bar, and the prostitutes would bring guys up to the top story, which is where he lives. Only several rooms in the building are renovated, and those are the ones he lives in. The ones in the back are still old, run down, and filled with junk. But anyway, we went back there to play another game, and my cousin brought her EVP with her. She had it on for the full 40 minutes we were back there, and when we came out into the livingroom we decided to listen to it. To our complete surprise, there were two voices we didn't recognize on the recording. Even stranger, though, was that they were in deep whispers, barely audiable, and one of them was male. Well the only one of us that was a guy was the one who owned the apartment, and he had left 15 minutes into the game because his gf is also one of our friends, and her parents didn't want him spending the night also. So there were no males in the room, yet there was a male voice on the recorder. Also, the things they said were pretty freaky. The first sounded like "perfect" and a little later "go away!". In the middle it seemed to be saying a lot, none of which we could make out, then we hear "do you hear me? HEAR ME!!" It was pretty freaky.
Author YellowLioness
lol. When I get pictures, I will SO post a link for you guys. Yes, the pic is real. I took it on one of those cheep throw away cameras. We didn't REALLY expect to catch anything. lol. And no, it's not an orb. I dont think those really count as ghosts, do you? On mine, there is a head (round and white) and a body (sort of... oblong, no arms, darker then the head...) Fayebelle is our in-house psychic! :-D tee hee, just teasing. :-) I think that's really cool. Actually, my grandma used to pick up the phone and say, "well hello eloise." And it would be her sister on the other line saying, "It didn't even ring once on your end, Geraldine!" lol. And my great great grandfather used to see "visions" and spirits. They were more like dreams for him. Similar to me. Yeah, my house is beastly haunted. Like... the stuff at the corner of your eye that's too big to be a mouse, foot steps, voices, something being dragged, the heavy presences (those are REALLY creepy). So yeah, I hear you. lol. About smells... yes, I have actually smelled things. Sometimes it smells like lemons or cookies (usually if i'm feeling really bad... long story, another thread another time) or sometimes it smells like burnt toast, or something rotten. Hmm... thanks... never thought about the smell thing before... maybe i took it for granted. :-)
Bubbles
Hey! What are orbs? and can animals see ghosts? I moved into my apartment 5 years ago with my (at the tinme) boyfriend. I had felt as though someone was in the apartment with me on many, many occasion so I mentioned it to my b/friend and he went white. He said he had felt the same on a number of occasion. I would hear footsteps, I would think that it was my b/f coming down the hall and when I would turn around he wasn't there so I would go to find out where he was and usually he would be fast asleep in bed. So.....I decided to start talking to the ghost! I would laugh whenever I would hear footsteps and no-one was there and I would say right out loud "o.k. I'm here and you're here......we're all here so if you wouldn't mind, would you please stop scarring the crap out of me..... and try to be careful not to break any-thing. I don't mind you being here just don't scare the me or the children & don't break any-thing o.k.?" I swear! I think my ghost has decided to behave themselves because I still hear things but.......nothing is broken and the kids are totally un-aware of any-thing. I got a little kittie cat almost 2 years ago and sometimes well, she acts a little nuts! There are times when I know that I am alone in the apartment and she is staring at something behind me or beside me or I don't know. She gets her back up like she's going to attack and then ends up running in the other direction. I have never had a reason to be afraid of my ghost because it has never tried to harm me. Does any-one have any ideas? Bubbles
lydiamarie
my mom just did the phone thing to me this morning! she does it all the time. it goes something like this: i call my mom and don't hear it ring. but i here dialing. pause me: hello? mom: hi me: who were you calling? mom: did you just call me? me: why did you call? mom: i don't know. i just felt like i should call you. i had big news to tell her. but she had nothing to say to me. it happens all the time. do any of you get really in tune with people you are close to? i can tell when someone is going to call, come over, is in pain (i usually feel their pain-not fun), or sick (i smell vomit when my sister is vomiting-across town. and i don't know until later that she was vomiting. once my brother and i were home and i asked if he could smell it and he said no so i made him follow me around the house looking for the vomit. but it came and went apparently randomly. it turned out that i wasn't smelling it in particular areas but at particular times.) i seem to be really good at reading people too. i can tell when something is wrong like you wouldn't believe. i used to have a neighbor who would stop by on her way back from class and i asked her what was wrong a few days in a row and she said nothing. i just thought i misread her. about a week later she came over and asked me how i always knew when something was wrong. i said i had no idea. i just knew (there was nothing noticably different about her, i just sensed it). so she came in and sat down and we talked. does anyone believe in aura? can anyone see it? Author YellowLioness
Hello Bubbles! Appearance & Characteristics: Orbs are the most photographed anomalies captured on film by ghost hunters. They most often show up as transparent or translucent balls of light hovering above the ground. It used to be considered a prize photo if the photographed orb/s would show up on film with an inner substance and a spot (nucleus or brain) within the substance. We are finding out now however, that some digital cameras will produce false orbs with these characteristics and they can no longer be counted as authentic. An impressive feature is when they are captured on film with a lingering trail. This trail indicates they were traveling at a fairly fast rate of speed at the time of the flash, which further indicates it's authenticity. Some experts say that 85% of photographed orbs are created inadvertently by circumstances and weather conditions at the time of the flash. We at Ghoststudy believe this number is a bit high but probably close to being factual. Orbs have also been seen on video hovering in the same position for short periods of time but most often are caught traveling erratically through the air in a rather care free pattern. Locations spotted: They have been seen in about every location imaginable. Temperature changes and different climates do not seem to affect them. They are however, most often seen outdoors and especially seem to be drawn to historic surroundings. Speculations: Believed by many to be the soul or spirit (human & animal) of those that have passed on from this life. The orb shape is obviously the most convenient way for them to travel around in their present state. There are other theories about orbs as well. One would be that they are a separate life form all together and are undetectable to the human eye because of their finer tissue. The other theory that I have read about is that they could be nature spirits. Most especially tree spirits. They are said to come out particularly at night when the tree is at rest and return when they are needed. Hey, I’m just telling you what I have read. http://www.ghoststudy.com/types.html
Fayebelle
Yes animals are sensitive BUT cats wig out sb/c they are tripping 80% of their lives. Their brains natural produce the reaction ours has to LSD! I live in a barn that has been renovated into 2 apartments. There was a civil war plantation here that burned down and a family graveyard out back. Needless to say we have paranormal Grand Central Station here.

EC
"Sensitivity" also runs in my family too. I come from a hispanic family and they say hispanics usually tend to be "sensitive". My great great grandmother could tell people their future with sea shells? I never understood that sea shells or tarot cards. She even predicted when and at what time she was going to die and sure enough her prediction came true. Me on the other hand have never seen a ghost. but I did have an experience one time that freaked me out. I was sitting in my room which faces the hallway leading out of the bathroom. All of a sudden I see my brother walking out of the room with his right arm in a sling. But it looked like a tranparency kind of. I can't explain. I stayed where I was and followed him with my eyes till the wall blocked my sight. i couldn't move for like 5 mins. So finally I get the courage to walk to the living room where my parents were and my brother was sitting with them watching TV. I was like did you just come out of the bathroom. He said no and my parents thought I was nuts. I was like I swear I saw him with a sling on his arm. We forgot about it and then the next day at camp my brother fell out of a tree and borke his arm and it was in a cast and sling. I freaked out!! Ever since then I kinda block that stuff out. Theres more incidents but another post another time lol.

And let that be a lesson to us all.
kizmet74
Seriously though? she can't see anything or sence anything? and what about RodRugg's story about the parakete - you'd think the bird would squak or something being all torn up and shredded. How does a ghost do that to a living thing and there's no sound? Bubbles Animals are MORE sensitive to these things than people. They are more "in tune" with everything (paranormal, natural disasters, disease, etc). Not sure how to explain why there was no sound with the parakeet. It does happen though. lydiamarie
my cat always hides in the basement during storms. he knows when they are coming-i think he must be able to feel the change in air pressure and humidity. my cat randomly leaves rooms in my house and so usually it doesn't bother me, but if i start sensing something and then he suddenly takes off then you can bet that i'm following after him-it creeps the hell out of me. faux
If it can be proved that ghosts and spirits exist, then I will believe in them. Until that time, however, it makes more sense to say that I do not believe such things exist outside of our fantasies and imaginations. The only thing that animals are more "in tune" with are naturally occurring phenomena which may seem mysterious to us as humans, given our comparatively limited senses. Silliness about people being more "sensitive" to such "paranormal activity". Everything seems to fall directly under already known scientific laws. Simply because we cannot readily explain something does not mean that there is no reasonable scientific explanation for it.
kizmet74
Faux, What more proof do you need other than what's already been proven? With all the evidence that's out there, I don't see how anyone can't believe. I'm sure your lack of belief goes back to society saying that such things are rediculous and maybe you've never seen for yourself. It would be like someone saying there's no such thing as an atom just because they never saw one. Yes, I know there are a lot of hoaxes from people just trying to get attention. But people wouldn't believe in it if it wasn't happening to so many. And to say your place is haunted IS a scientific explanation for strange things happening. It's been proven time and again. lydiamarie
i don't think i would believe it if i had never experienced it. in fact i had a really hard time dealing with the fact that i did have these experiences until my mom and i sat and had a long talk one day a few years ago. she told me about her experiences and her parents'. finding out that i wasn't alone really helped. and hearing my religious and very sensible mother say that some things happen that she can't explain and can't make go away certainly didn't hurt
