All The Women Here Who Complain About Men Wanting Supermodels

It's pretty much a scientific fact that people tend to date in their own leagues in terms of areas like appearance, social status and income...yet I see a ton of women who constantly complain that guys all want the 24 year old supermodel.

What is that all about? The only guys who want a 24 year old supermodel are those who are extremely good looking/very high social status/very wealthy. The dating world is kind of like a market place - we all try to attract the person with the most value (combination of looks and personality for both genders, income for men) so guys in a certain league are generally going to go for women in their league. There are exceptions to this but not all that often in my view

Anyways, are these women complaining about this because they want a man who is super high in the areas I talked about or it just a way for them to justify their lack of success (which is often times a result of lack of effort and/or terrible attitude)? I really don't get it. The only guys I know who expect a super hot babe are guys who are good looking and super toned themselves. I know very few men who expect a woman to be way way more attractive than themselves

If men aren't looking for hot babes, how do do you explain the ton of PUA forums that are mostly focused on "hot girls" and a lot of of male dominated forums that are filled with pictures of model looking women with men rating them and asking how they can get one??

The reality of the matter is, there are men who try to chase women better than themselves and women who do the same. At the end of the day, not all men can get with the hottest babes and not all women can get the most charming or wealthy guy so they all settle for something less than perfect.

The sad part is only that women, due to biological reasons (whether it's biological clock or their need for emotional support) are more likely to settle whereas men are told they have all the time in the world an it only gets better for them with time. They are also usually more emotionally independent so they're more likely to hold out for the best thing. I hear the sentence "I won't settle" from so many guys nowadays.

PS: I think income matters to men too. Whenever I go out with guys, they ask me a lot of questions about what I do, what I went to school for etc. I have a friend who has a very well paying job and quite honestly, men seem to be very impressed every time she says what she does for a living. Perhaps it's the age and type of guys we're meeting. Men in late twenties or thirties who have their **** together kind of want the same in a woman.

You answered your own question. According to that "league theory," people tend to date the most attractive person they can date who is willing to date them. Through the trial and error process, they will start at the top until they make their way down the ladder and find someone who will date them. This is how we all "discover" our own league.

According to the theory which you reference, men who are young and often lacking in dating experience will shoot for the stars, so to speak, and go after the most desirable women, i.e., the 24 year old supermodel. They do this because they don't actually know which league they fall into. It isn't until later when they realize they can't get dates with the 24 year old supermodels that they lower their target range to find their league.

I wouldn't categorize PUA as being representative of all men, not by a long shot actually

Most men in real life date women about as attractive as themselves. That's a scientific fact

Most people have dating experience in their teens nowadays. Guys even in their early 20s know who their league is and usually date somebody as attractive as themselves

Don't mistake young boys fantasizing about pornstars as being reality. It's no different than women fantasizing about marrying a movie star. People know that's not reality and they try to meet somebody that is right for them who is close to being equivalent of themselves

I wouldn't be so sure to make such an aggressive statement. I absolutely hate using my own personal experience as a single counterexample to any generalization, but my first date came at 23. I'm 28 now and still have absolutely no idea where I stand in terms of "league"...

I'd be willing to bet the farm that a sizable percentage of men out there didn't do much dating in their teens or even their early 20's...

Lol wut? Most people I know had their first girlfriend/boyfriend at 15-16. I dunno too many people who got to the age of 22-24 with no dating experience

Anyways, my point remains the same. It's a scientific fact that most people date people in their own league. All this talk of men wanting supermodels is just a way for women to not take responsibility for their failures/lack of effort

And my point is simply that it's certainly possible women are observing that men do indeed want supermodels. They are either not firmly accepting of their "league" and continuing to shoot for the stars, or they had succeeded once in supermodel territory and established their league based on that single occurrence.

Just another idea of explaining your observation is all.

I'm not disagreeing that there are a certain group of men in that category, just as there are a certain group of women who want a millionaire but you'd have to be delusional to believe that's true for a majority or even sizable chunk of the population

If men were only interested in being with supermodel quality babes, then 99% of women would be foreveralone and we all know that's not true. There's literally nothing supporting this idea that you need to be super beautiful to get a man and plenty of evidence supporting my idea that most people date in their own league

Dating within your league is a great way to miss out on the spice of life.

Now this next part may just upset your idealized TV and Movie influenced version of reality BUT, The hottest girls are not always the best in bed.

I've dated both above and below my league and I can tell you from experience that some of the 8's and 9's I've been with are pretty tame in bed... and let's just say the best (tow curling eye spinning) BJ I have ever had was from a very "normal" looking woman.

You're missing the point of my thread. I never once stated that you have to go for a super beautiful babe or anything like that

I just don't understand all the whining on this site constantly by people who seem to think that the only folks dating are millionaires and playmates. Most people are average people and they date other average people and there's nothing wrong with that

Ive seen most women go after the same small amount of good looking Men and then finally "settle" only because the bioligical clock is ticking and the fear of never having a family gets to them, not because women arent picky or shallow

How is that scientific Brahman?

And what way should women make an effort in your opinion - taking your vast dating experience into account?

Actually American women should be grateful.

This is the only country where single moms, fat girls and old women can still get enough attentions to boost their ego.

Watch how fat girls are treated in other country. (you can't even get a job as a cahier because it disgusts people)

Watch how fat girls act in american soil. you will be blown away.

*raises hand*

I turned someone down, that I had a crush on, because he made it sound like he was doing me a favour when he asked me out. He couldn't just ask me out, he had to preface it with, "I heard you had a crush on me..." He may have been nervous, but I didn't put that together with him at the time, due to him being, "Mr. Cool." Still, he could have just asked me out as though he wanted to go out with me.

When we moved over here, I was too young for the guys who showed interest. I wasn't around guys my own age, due to working at home, and moving around.

Not true. Why do you care, anyway? Why do we need yet another man, telling us where we are going wrong, that it's all our fault, and so on?

Here we go again.

And for good measure:  with a side order of  How dare anyone who isn't hot by society's standards, and over 25, want to be treated well - right?

They don't have to be....all you have to do is look at their arse while their sitting on top of you, and that is psychologically arousing in itself. It's all visually stimulating regardless of her performance.

All The Women Here Who Complain About Men Wanting Supermodels
.......are empowered to complain just like any other member is empowered to complain about their dating and relationship situations and perceptions. It's an interpersonal relationship *discussion* forum, yes?

That said, I've heard a lot of female complaints in real life over the decades and have never, ever, even once, heard this one. So, perhaps, like other statements and perceptions one experiences on LS, due to the nature of the site, such statements *here* trend to the hyperbolic, gender aside. It's the nature of the beast that is LS.
