Consolidated Discussion - A man's/woman's height in the search for relationships

???

Women hit on men? Since when did this start happening unless you are a total stud?

This is not the first time I have heard this on Loveshack. I have heard of other guys saying that they are getting hit on by girls. How does that happen? I thought girls almost never make the first move, unless you win the genetic lottery.

I have this happen to me occasionally. Sometimes, a girl that I know will develop an infatuation with me and chase me around. Other times, a girl will just come up to me and tell me I'm cute/hot. Other times, a girl will see other girls interested in me and will fight each other for me.

I'm a short white guy with a good-looking face. Certainly no male model. Though, I'm sure it happens to the male models way more often than it happens to me.

It happens.

I'm sure plenty of women on here have done it.

I made the first move twice (got rejected, but hey I tried!)

My boyfriend has been known to get hit on. We were somewhere a few weeks ago (can't remember whether it was a restaurant or a store) and the girl working there appeared VERY interested in him.

Getting chatted/eyed up while out on a date/night out with a woman is more common than some people realize.

Its been discussed on here a fair bit and its something that i can relate to.

Don't know how much it happens to women though :)

How important is it for a man to be taller than a woman in a relationship?

Would love both male and females opinions on this. I'm pretty tall (5'9) and I've never dated a guy who was shorter than me (I've never dated a guy under 6' actually), but I just met one that I might actually like. But I must admit..the height bothers me a little bit. It doesn't seem to bother him though.

What is the general opinion on this subject?

Thanks all!

kali ive been married for so long I can barely remember, but I had a bf that was a tad shorter than me,i do remember that we went on a couple of dates and it did bother me a bit,but what he lacked in height he made up for it in the sack,so we went out for about 18 months.

it didn't work out but not cause of his height,i have a friend though he outweighs her husband by 75 pounds, and taller than him too and it doesn't seem to bother them at all,and they truly love each other, she even wears heels.

I guess it all depends on you,but if hes a good man and treats you well I would think it shouldn't matter

my 2 cents anyways

have fun dating!!!!!

so funny you ask. I was told that I was shallow because I have a height requirement for dating. I want a man a few inches taller than me. That way when I wear heels Im not taller than him.

I am 5'6" and would like someone at leas 5'9", I'd really prefer 6' because they make me feel more petite. lol.

Im sure if i was friends with a guy my height and we started connecting romantically, I would not turn him away because of it, but its something I look for while perusing the male species. lol.

I've almost always dated shorter, but once dated a woman who was not only a bit taller, but a bit older as well.

She turned out to be nuts, but I don't blame her elevation. :)

Height preferences are as valid as any other preferences, but what the hell, give it a shot and see how it works out.

Well I'm 5'4" so meeting and dating men taller than me hasn't really been an issue.

Having said that, I do prefer taller men, like 5'10" or taller.

I could never date anyone even close to my height. I have a big personality that requires a big man physically :) :) :)

If you're both comfortable with the height difference, that's great.

I'm 5'9" too and have found that shorter men are not OK with it. Heck, I even had a taller man ask me not to wear heels.

I've found that men care just as much, if not more than, women do about height. They want a shorter woman sometimes significantly.

I'm 6'3 and have never dated a woman taller than me. In fact I married a woman extremely petite at 5 even. It has never been an issue to us and she loves how big I am compared to her, I'm her personal jungle gym. She brings out my natural protective instincts and I make her feel safe. This is just a number for men, not as important as for women, I think as I have dated/ hung out with girls who are considered tall, like 5'11.

I remember one of my short friends telling me to leave him the really little girls because he didn't like girls taller than him, which was ironic considering who he ended up with. I thought he was joking around at the time, it appears from this site, he wasn't. The same guy went on to marry three times, all of them taller than him. Their height differential was the least of their issues, he likes crazy broads.

I didn't consciously set out to marry someone so tiny, it just worked out that way. I doubt I would have dated a woman taller than me, she'd have to be WNBA tall.

Ok, so the general consensus seems to be that people are ok with it? I've never been picky about men physically..height has always been one of my ONLY physical requirements (the others mostly having to do with hygeine, haha).

I'm going to give it a shot..you never know. He's 5'7..only 2 inches shorter than me..

I know I've said this once before so I'll say it again.

Height bears no relevance to who I choose to date. Weight will, however.

Call it shallow. I call it standards and self respect.

Not sure about consensus, but the popular view (from this forum, at least) is that short guys have been dealt a bad hand. Maybe you can prove them wrong!

Isn't there some psychological effect that shorter people generally endure? Something like always having to prove...or validate...or make themselves known?

Just a random thought.

You do realize that their are men that are tall and small....and there are guys that are relatively short and big..And no..I am not necessarily referring to what you are thinking....

TFY

Yawn, another preference thread. How many more ???

My question is specific to my current situation, and you are rude.

Sorry, if i created a thread that the girl i was interested in only had 34 D instead of the 36 B/C/D i am usually interested in, would i be granted the same level of understanding ?

We've had plenty of boob preference threads, weight threads, dick threads, etc.

There are always a few who launch some angst-ridden posts, but the prevailing attitude is "hey, whatever gets you through the night."
