BlueIris
This is pretty disheartening "don't bother working out just be tall" Sure, height in men is preferred in general. And the part of the video that was cut also said that a certain waist-hip ratio in women is preferred in general. Lots of things matter, though, and the research reported in this video only addressed physical traits. It didn’t say that being a jerk, being dirty, being negative, being lazy, being selfish or any number of other traits don’t matter so long as you’re a man who’s tall or a woman who has an hourglass figure. kolleamm
Believe it or not but I have seen many Asian women dating men who are either their own height or sometimes even shorter then them!

Well, in the other dude's defense, I suppose that attempting to cultivate the opposite qualities didn't win over anyone in his target audience either. Assuming he's not going for tall supermodels. lol

Not all short guys are obsessed with their own height, you know. Lots of them are having good lives. With women involved, even! You could be one of those, you know. Your choice. deathandtaxes
Statistically, it's very short-sighted (pun intended!) to limit yourself to the very tall guys. The average US male is somewhere around 5'9". So if you're shooting north of 6'2", it limits you to the top 5% of men in height. So if you're willing to discard 95% of men to just get a guy 6'2" or taller, that's your loss. source: CDC

Something's, people have to figure out for themselves and it is not your place to tell them. If it doesn't work for them and keeps not working for them, they will auto-correct themselves. Or not. deathandtaxes
Top 5%! Whoa I better tell my husband. What percentage am I in at 5'1"? The study puts you in the 15th percentile. But the mean for US women is just a smidge over 5'4". Hey imported - I never said it was my problem. I think it is very funny seeing height preferences in a lot of women's profiles. They're shooting for a guy's height that really limits to what they're looking for.
lollipopspot
The difference with the height issue, especially in your case, is that your height requirement is based on a lie, which is your height while wearing heels... Sure, I have preferences, but none are based on a lie. If I were a bald guy wearing a hair piece, I wouldn't insist on all women I dated having full, thick hair. It's not a lie. I don't think females are stating their height plus heels as their natural height, rather they state their preference for a certain height in males. As a male you fit that criteria or you don't. So what? I'll bet most bald guys have a strong preference for a female with hair. They have that preference, even though they don't have hair themselves. Why get bent out of shape because of someone else's preferences? I'm not everyone's cup of tea, and that's o.k. In fact, I'd rather have him be clear about his preferences than lead me on. R3d
Seriously, why are you so offended by women's preferences? What is so ridiculous and hilarious about a woman wanting to date a guy who is taller than she is when she wears heels? Because just about every woman prefers that... somedude81
I never said I was looking for a super tall man, just someone taller than me when I wear heels (5'11"). Yes, I said IN HEELS! Although I'm 5'8", I'm not giving up a closet full of heels (and the attire to go with them) to date someone as tall or shorter than me if it's just not my preference. Then you should be willing to date any man who is 5'8 as long as he wears platform shoes (or heels) when you wear your heels.
michellew
be hot. thats the genius soltuion to getting tall men I don't have a problem getting a tall man, it's knowing if he's tall before we meet! Lol

So what? I'll bet most bald guys have a strong preference for a female with hair. They have that preference, even though they don't have hair themselves. It is a lie. While there is an element of wanting to looking stylish, it distorts her height. That's fine, guys can see she is wearing high heels when they meet her so its not quite like say wearing spanx to deceive. Still its a little ridiculous to factor in a false attribute about yourself as to be requiring a better attribute in a man. Its pretty clear in dating height in a man is an attractive attribute, but to say I'm not shallow, its because of my shoes I need a tall guy is bogus. For the woman who continually wear 3" heels around 6 days a week even at home with her bf there is more justification than those women who wear high heals one weeknight a week and really mostly in their 20s (3% of her life with a husband) for but who claim they need to taller guy to compensate for those times. Its like say guys wearing a padded extra muscle contours undergarment that gives him the V body athletic shape who insists he looks more masculine & athletic now so deserves an extra trim fit feminine woman. As for bald guys wanting a woman with hair. lol seriously, where are the masses of bald women for them.
MidwestUSA
I was standing face to face, nose to nose, both of us in socks, to a guy I was dating. I asked 'how tall did you say you were?'. He replied 5'8". (I'm 5'5.5") On our first date, I wore 2.5" heels. I was uncomfortably taller, and would have preferred flats anyway. Why would a guy lie to my face? It was all I could do to not laugh. In fact, maybe I did. WTF? It turned out height wasn't the only thing he deluded himself about.
AD1980
Ironically I joined tinder because I thought my height was holding me back and figured I didn't have to list it on there.well I was on for a few months liked a few hundred women and didn't get one like back. Good news was it wasn't only my height holding me back bad news was it's my ugly face lol I had my insecurities about my looks and attracting women before tinder and joining tinder was the nail in my coffin in aggressively going after women I'm now back in my shell Edited August 8, 2014 by AD1980
