I decided to write down some goals of mine that I have within the next two years. I became motivated to write them down because I ended up enrolling in a Pharmacy Technician program, and will graduate in May of 2005.

1. Graduate with honors.

2. Get certification for Pharmacy Tech.

3. Work in a hospital pharmacy.

4. Move out 3 months or so after starting career.

5. Pay off debts (credit card, loans, dad, etc)

6. Buy a couch and kitchen table.

Some of the smaller goals of mine are just to find a part-time job while going to school, getting A's in all my classes, and starting to eat healthy/exercise.

I believe these are realistic goals that I can accomplish in two years. Maybe not all of #5, but a good majority of it.

The greatest thing about writing a list such as this is crossing them out, one by one, and eventually crossing out the last one and having a fully completed list.

There was one point in my life where EVERYTHING was falling apart. I mean absolutely everything. I was screwed. Completely screwed, like tomorrow I could be homeless screwed. It was a bad bad time, I don't even want to say some of the stuff that was happening, but needless to say, I was losing a lot of sleep. So eventually I wrote a list of like ten things that HAD to be accomplished, and in mere weeks, it was all completely done with, and looking at that list, everything on it done, was probably one of the greatest feelings I've had ever.

You don't know how bad I'm looking forward to crossing those out! I have also been in positions where I feel like everything is just spiraling downward and I can't control anything, but hopefully within the next 9 months things will get better and I can update and say, "Look how I'm doing!"

Exactly.

Have you ever actually said something like this?

"So this is what being in a downward spiral feels like?"

THAT'S when you know things are pretty rough.

I can honestly say I've been at my lowest point ever in my life, where everything I care about could be taken away from me, TWICE, most recently just in the past few weeks, but I got out of it luckily.

It's good that you got out of it! I have actually said that before, and just the reality of hearing yourself say that kicks in and depresses me a bit. I had it happen when I was 18. I had just moved out and into my own apartment, had a good job where I was making a lot of money, and then I messed up and got fired from the job and it all went downhill. I ended up having to have my dad pay my rent for a few months, and dumped my boyfriend of two years, etc. I had to move back in with my mom. It wasn't a good thing. Then, just recently, I was laid off my job so now I barely have any money and can't pay my bills, etc. I've been trying to look for a job, but I don't want to resort to McDonalds or Burger King.
