irregular periods and cramps- ALL OF THE TIME

Recommended Posts

ive had my period for about three years now and it has NEVER BEEN NORMAL. sometimes it comes after 18 days, sometimes it waits until 30 something. but usually around day 21 i get it. it has always been out of order, even before i became sexually active. also my cramos have always been unbearable, i wake up about 4 am and need to use a heating pad, i cant stetch, sit up, lay down, breathe or ne thing without being uncomfortable. i sometiemes throw up and i get dizzy and cant see straight they are so horrible.

i am going to the gyno on in 2 days and i am ultimitely wondering, is birth control the number one thing that will help me be regular and help the carmps become a minor problem? or is there soemthing else they will put me on, because i really want birth control, but i dont want my mom to become suspicious and i want to just say its mostly becuase of the period..

thanks

If you want BC go to your local Health Dept. It is COMPLETELY confidential and your Mom never need know but you should really be honest w/ your parents about your sexual activity. You never know what ?'s you may have in the future and it's best to be open in the beginning.

As for menstral probs- they may try BC to control but I had to switch to a diaphram b/c anything w/hormones actually makes my period a much bigger prob (spotting, irregularity, and cramps) We tried all types before deciding my body is just stubborn and likes it's hormones just the way it makes them.

No matter what ALWAYS use condoms for safety. You can also get these free at your Health Dept. Also they work w/you for BC payments since they realize some kids can't or won't be honest w/their parents and they'd rather see you protected than out there taking chances.

Beth- you may want to discuss why you are having such bad symtoms with your doctor. My sister had symptoms similar to yours and it was because she has endometriosis. Just a thought.
