SJC2008
I really need to get my weight back down but can't get motivated to go on a diet. I've been "thinking" about it for almost a year now when my weight started creeping back up. Last july I was 185, the lowest I had been in years and I don't remember how I got that low. Right now I'm 5'10" 220lbs Now here are my "hurdles" if you will: #1) I've always been chunky/flabby. Even if I go on a diet I'll hit my peak and will never have that six pack/or close to it so yes it's a motivational hurdle. #2) I atrophy really fast. I don't have a lot of nautral strength. Even if I lost weight and worked on my arms to get them defined, I'd lose my gains really really fast. #3) I love fast food and soft drinks! I have to admit I'm addicted. As silly as it sound I love the feel of a cold carbonated drink going down lol! Any suggestions as to getting past the "Get off your arse and do it" hump??
mario_C
Using online calorie/fat/carb/sugar calculators (I use My Fitness Pal and SlimKicker, heard good things about Fitocracy) is a really amazing tool to minimize both starvation and working out, neither of which are fun. You have to calculate your minimum calorie and fat gram intake and aim for that as close as possible. If you're over, that's obviously bad, but if you're under you go into starvation mode which is just as bad (your body stops burning fat). Like for me, it's 1200 calories and 40 grams of fat (I'm a big fcker, and would like to be ripped). So I have to eat exactly that, anything over I have to burn working out, but I have to eat to that point every day. The upside of this work is you can determine exactly how much fun food you can eat for dinner. Well, no one told me in high school gym either. The years I've wasted being fat when I could have been in shape and having fun...
