Mme. Chaucer
Absolutely. Very few people are overweight due to legit medical problems. I am sure you're right, but having one body type or another does not equate to a "medical problem." A person with an ectomorphic body, as Kiss probably has, typically does not store much fat and (I guess, I'm not a scientist or googling it now) has a higher metabolism. An endomorph gets padding easily, and an mesomorph is good at developing muscle. I raise and train working dogs, and I've had horses for years. Some of them are "easy keepers" (sometimes known as "air ferns" ) and it almost seems cruel how little I need to feed them in order to maintain a not fat condition. And others burn through any fuel you give them and still look like they're starving. Animals that are in the exact same work do NOT necessarily need the same nutrition to be in fit condition. I'm sure we humans are like that too. So, if one tends to pack on poundage rather than burn through our calories, any emotional issues around, or just a real love of food will have the undesired result of … fatness. It's not healthy to be fat and it certainly carries a negative social stigma, as expressed perfectly in the OP, but why do we as a society insist on feeling justified in denigrating fat people? That is shameful behavior. I'm sure if a person is fat and fine with it, then it's just plain fine. And if they are struggling with it, the last thing they need is all of this garbage hurled their way.
xxoo
I have seen few gals who where in good shape get bloated like a whale in few months. Being fat is not genetics (unless rare cases). Almost anyone can be in average shape. people get all defensive about fat people and blame genetics......guess what, its not your genetics it's your crap diet and no exercise. People want always the easy way out. What in the hell? 110 is too skinny at 5'6 and you're 5'8 at that height? Jesus, at least get to 120-130 ish. You must be borderline anorexic The only time I've ever seen a girl with an appealing figure at 110 LBs, she was like 5'3 And you guys wonder why women don't like you.
Eternal Sunshine
I have to say that I am puzzled on why kiss and makeup keeps her weight so low on purpose. She has admitted to some calorie restriction to keep her weight that low. At her height, her BMI is around 16. That is dangerously underweight and is associated with ton of health risks. In fact, the health risks are about the same as for an obese individual.
Imported
My only excuse for weight is I LOVE ICE CREAM TOO MUCH!! I think it's a medical condition. Omg, the WillyWonka chocolate truffle ice cream is my favorite at the moment, but that is only because I can't find any Ben&Jerry's German chocolate cake ice cream where I live Everytime i go somewhere on bussiness i go on the hunt to differnet supermarkets trying to find it again. However, my fallback ice cream is still Hagaan Daz coffee ice cream. Luckily I am a mesomorph and alarms start going off in my head before I get anywhere close to being overweight. I have been there before though. A couple times. And I realize at that point it is very difficult to snap back to being in shape, but excuses or putting it off isn't going to make it any easier. somedude81
5'8 110 is too thin 5'8 190 is too thick I do understand that genetics plays a part in both women. But it is not the be all end all. The skinny woman can gain weight if she really focused on her diet. I also have the impression that she might be doing a lot of cardio. The heavier woman can lose the weight if she continues to watch her diet and has an exercise program that includes cardio and weights. I wish the moral judgments on fat people would stop. These threads are NEVER about a person's health, but about somebody's aesthetic entertainment. I don't care if you don't like how women look - they are not there for your pleasure or entertainment. And how awful that a member here was told that they must look 'anorexic' based on some descriptions. Maybe we should all start threads about how unattractive short guys are, or guys with pot bellies, or guys who are obese, or guys with fat arms, or any other number of body critical things. Funny how in the entire time I've been on LS, I have not seen one thread criticizing a guy for being too fat or too thin. There have been several threads for shaming short guys and they weren't all tongue in cheek. Short men are insecure about their height like women are about their weight. But they key is, that if a woman works at it, she can lose the weight and be more attractive to men if that is what she wants. A short guy cannot become taller. It's great that you lost 100 pounds and I'm sure it's improved your confidence. Nothing like that can ever happen for me because no matter what I do I'll still be 5'6. BTW, there are also threads by women on how they have trouble feeling attracted to average or "blah" guys. What do you think it feels like as an below average guy that has always struggled to read such threads?
xxoo
5'8 110 is too thin 5'8 190 is too thick. You do realize that both women who posted those stats have boyfriends, right? Why is it that most of the men criticizing their sizes are dateless???
somedude81
You do realize that both women who posted those stats have boyfriends, right? That's not surprising at all. They are woman. kiss_andmakeup
I think you should look into this because eating that many calories is a very difficult thing to do. I'm not saying you should eat so much at all, just perhaps you could monitor your eating habits for a week or so to understand them better. I need to eat about 2500 calories a day because of my exercise regime and it's not easy! I was talking about when I was a teen. I don't eat that much anymore. Haven't for many years. In fact, the health risks are about the same as for an obese individual. Where did I say I restricted my calories? I simply don't eat like a teenager anymore. I prefer salads, fish, sushi, and high quality dark chocolate to pizza, chicken fingers, mac & cheese, and candy bars. When I'm hungry I eat until I'm full. I don't measure my portions or count my calories. My assessment of my caloric intake is more retrospective than a day-to-day practice. Yes, my BMI is low. I go for regular physicals to make sure everything is "normal" and my doctor assures me it is. He said if I'd like to gain weight then fine, if not, I'm perfectly healthy as is. Thanks for your concern, though. My ex used to have a nickname for me: "FID" (fatty in disguise). He coined this after we moved in together an realized how much I ate (whereas most people assume I eat two almonds an a stick of celery for dinner). IcedEarth
Of course not. But I guarantee I ate at least 2000-2500 calories a day and in many cases more. There was no reason for me to be so severely underweight when it came to my diet. In comparison, I dropped down to 1,500 calories and only lost 4 pounds over a month.
runningfar
I hate these threads. I am 5'5, 165 lb, size 8... I exercise several hours every day... . (because I love it not for weight; and for sports competition). I do not eat processed foods. Still fat. I can post my damn food logs but what is the point? It is different for some people, not most maybe but 1. Yeah I have a medical condition but it is not engrained on my forehead so people judging me on the street don't know... You never know someone's circumstance 2. I already hate looking in the mirror. Do you think comments help? Even if someone is eating crap what does it hurt you? I know plenty of skinny people who eat lots of crap and seldom exercise.... Or eat nothing and smoke, not good for you either. Ugh. Oh and 150 extra calories a day... A banana.., someone eats a banana too much every day, that would be 15 lb more a year... Do you really think people are just binging?

What in God's name gives you the idea that your judgement of "women's" weights, bodies, diets and exercise programs was called for here? This is not a thread about women who are asking for help on changing their physiques. Do you actually believe that somehow, women just walking around living their lives are somehow presenting themselves for critique from completely random guys who mean nothing to them? Do you realize how crappy that really is? What skinny and fat strangers could do to appear closer to YOUR ideal is really none of your business.

somedude81
Have you noticed that almost every post you make ends with bringing the topic back around to yourself and your own woes? Here's the reason you don't have a girlfriend: you're self absorbed. What an absolutely ridiculous connection to make. Do you honestly believe me being "self-absorbed" has any relation at all on why I can't get a GF? Not coincidence. Cause and effect. Another ridiculous connection. You girls kill me Because I think some women are too skinny and other women are too heavy that means I will be dateless. My theory about the men who start these fat people threads is that they're dom chubby chasers. They're secretly turned on by the act of bashing fat people and they jack off as they post on and follow these threads. And my theory is that women who have camels in their avatar do so because they preform oral on camels and it's a way for them to show their love. My theory is as valid as yours. Did you even read the first post in this thread? Of course this is not a thread where women are asking for help. This is an opinion thread and I was stating my own. If somebody were to ask for help I would a much more detailed response.

Badsingularity
Another ridiculous connection. You girls kill me When a guy mentions his height in a thread and a girl comes along and says "too short" specifically refering to him. What do think about her? Would you prefer to date her or a girl who saw the post and maybe even thought to herself "too short" but then thought to herself that she didn't want to post that because the guy didn't ask for an opinion and she also didn't want to be possibly hurt his feelings and height isn't everything after all.

somedude81
Oh, my God. Please, please tell me you were being intentionally ironic with that. Not all. It's the same thing as the "you can't get a girlfriend because you lack empathy" nonsense that some female members were harping about a while ago. Guys who judge women strangers' weight are widely known to be losers by cool men and women alike. You might want to consider resigning from the OP's club. What is this, high school? And no, in case you were wondering, I don't talk about women's weight with people outside of forums. When a guy mentions his height in a thread and a girl comes along and says "too short" specifically refering to him. What do think about her? First off all, if a woman made a thread about how she doesn't like short men and I posted my height, it would be silly not to expect any remark about it. And if you didn't notice, I didn't name any members. Would you prefer to date her or a girl who saw the post and maybe even thought to herself "too short" but then thought to herself that she didn't want to post that because the guy didn't ask for an opinion and she also didn't want to be possibly hurt his feelings and height isn't everything after all.Neither. Badsingularity
Neither. I have no interest in dating people I meet on a forum. I realy thought that my post would allow you to see how two different personalities would respond and to see that one was less attractive than the other.
Badsingularity
Also. You didn't realy answer the questions. What do think about the type of girl who would just say "too short"? If you had to pick between the two girls. Who would you pick? Who has a more attractive personality to you?

Badsingularity
Dude, I know you're trying to prove some point, but the scenario is so ridiculous it's not worth giving a real answer. It's not ridiculous. There girl who says "too short" represents you telling the woman earlier in the thread " too skinny". The girl who thought too short, but decided not to post it for several reasons. Represents all the guys that didn't post saying too skinny or too fat. Everyone who wants to improve their personality and become more attractive has to be open to the possibility that the way they think sometimes can show up as unnattractive personality traits.
