The Jezebel Spirit?

Recommended Posts

Why this rush to claim demonic possession as the cause for horrible behavior in human beings (in this case, women)? Haven't we been given freedom of choice, and don't we often make bad choices (smoking, sedentary lifestyle, etc)? Isn't this a basic tenant of Christianity and of human nature?

Who is blaming women with cancer? Please quote even a single person who is blaming women with cancer.

You may not be blaming them, but you are associating their cancer with something about them that is in need of "redemption." That is not a comforting thought to women suffering with breast cancer - that if they'd been "right with the Lord," this never would have happened.

I will repost what I wrote earlier:

This is similar to the debate of whether or not all natural disasters are God's direct judgement on a person/group. We cannot say for sure whether, for example, the massive tsunami in Indonesia several years ago was a judgement. But we do know for sure that, in the biblical past, God has done such things and it wouldn't not be inconsistent with the Bible. So I will not say that all women with breast cancer have it because of the Jezebel spirit, but I do know that there are some.

Now I will add:

If we know that bad habits such as smoking, sedentary lifestyle, drugs, etc, can contribute to the risk of cancer, when then is it unreasonable to believe that a harmful spiritual state (such as the spirit of Jezebel) can also contribute to the risk of cancer?

The spirit of God, that lives within me, is telling me to leave this thread and not look back. So, that's just what I'll do.

The modern world is suffering from a severe form of scientific schizophrenia. We love to classify everything. We say, "This is spiritual." And we say, "That is physical." The truth is that these distinctions are not realistic; they all blend together and overlap.

Things in the spiritual world have definite impacts on the physical world. A demonic possession, for example, may cause certain changes in the brain chemistry. Then a know-it-all will come along and say, "This mental disorder is caused by a chemical imbalance in the brain...etc." What he might not know is that an unseen, unmeasurable spiritual phenomenon is the cause behind the physical change, yet he since he cannot see it, he assumes that the physical change is the primary cause.

Contrariwise, certain physical situations may have effects in the spiritual world. For example, if a person comes down to mono illness, their spiritual state will be greatly harmed, and they will be more likely to go into a depression if the situation is leaning that way.

Oh that is so sad and grotesquely scary! You're in a medical field and people who get saddled with you have to find out the hard way that you apply your knowledge filtered through superstition and fairytales!

Truthfully, you all clearly don't even read my posts. You just take your preconceived notions of what you WANT to think I believe and you just run with it. I can't defend against your preconceived notions because I don't believe them.

Some disease is the result of the biological fallen world in general.

Some disease is the result of an individuals actions--whether physical or spiritual.

Other diseases are the result of OTHER peoples actions.

Please stop being obtuse and oversimplifying the world.

M30, we're all calling you on your completely nonsensical claim of "spiritual" causes of disease.

The shoe fits. Stop whining.

The cardiologist I work with is a firm believer that people are more likely to die from heart disease when they have a "broken heart" or crushed heart as a result of depression, death of a spouse, and even unsettled religious beliefs.

Yes, but that's not the cause.

Read my post again.

I agree a mental positive attitude helps, but as to the rest of your baloney - it's bollox.

And I thing YOU added the 'unsettled religious beliefs' bit.

Give me a break....

No cardiologist worth his professionalism is ever going to say that - either in private, and especially not to a patient.

Their reputation as a serious medical professional would be jeopardised by such a stupid, blinkered statement.

Calling you out on that one.

I actually believe in "spiritual sickness" and "spiritual health" and that either can manifest in physical ways.

I am not talking about Christianity as equivalent to spirituality, either, though it can be for some people.

For example, a spiritually healthy person can still live a more beautiful life with her cancer than one who is spiritually bereft. I am observing this in my life right now through a dear friend of mine.

The idea that she might be in need of REDEMPTION because of being a JEZEBEL makes me want to fight.

This has nothing to do with a DEMONIC ENTITY that has A GENDER (female, of course) being responsible for a freaking thing.

And I am grateful that at least one poster who I recognize as a self-identified Christian has spoken up about the absurdity of this.

Honestly. If there really were "evil spirits" that would infiltrate us and make us mean and sick, they would not have a chromosomal configuration.
