Can we find common ground?

Recommended Posts

OP, in all honesty I would only be bothered if you came to the UK and spouted your nonsense here. Thankfully there are Incitement Laws to protect against persons such as yourself.

Atheist and Christians/religious folk can get on perfectly fine as long as those with extreme views are plucked out before they take root. Therefore it is better for you to stay in America methinks.

Have a great life. :p

Really? You don't have freedom of speech in the UK? Can a delusional blowhard get hauled off to jail in your land just for being themselves? I didn't know that.

Seriously?

I'm pretty sure that Jesus Christ himself was seen as quite an extremist in his day. Extremists are often the catalyst for change and the spark for new and brilliant movements. In the UK they are "plucked out"?

Don't get me wrong - I in NO WAY think that the OP is an extremist, or that anybody is in danger of thinking, doing or changing anything in relation to what he posts, and as far as I'm concerned there is no reason to read it.

But what you posted was a little alarming to me.

Thankfully I have only seen what that lot get up to via Youtube videos..

Yeah, I am happy when they get arrested. Noisy, scruffy sods.

Mme Chaucer - I don't want to give the wrong impression. It takes a little doing to get yourself arrested - but yes you can get chucked in Prison if seen to be rallying others against others sexual orientation, race or with regard to inciting religious hatred.

So, culturally I am biased to agree with this level of intervention and see it differently to 'just being oneself' if it has a negative effect on others. It is the same with employment Laws. I took a former employer to Court and won because of some **** that was said in my presence. I am not having any of it. People should know better in this day and age.

I agree with what you said about Jesus but cannot put the OP in the same light.

Anyhow, my daughter has told me to leave this thread alone, lol. So I will.

Take care,

Now I think we're onto something here. See? More common ground. I like this thread!

The one small thing I would like to point out is that when I ask for proof or call out horrible atrocities and denounce them, I hardly see either of these two things as extreme. But I certainly understand why you do see it that way.

This is where we are headed in the US too folks. Sorry to be the one to break it. I am speaking up while I can. pretty soon they will be taking guys like me away forever.

And to think I served honorably in the Marine Corps for four years willing to give my life in defense of the Constitution - and so many are willing to poop on it and take away the rights it guarantees.

Sad, very sad.

You'll be interested to know, Eve, that my grandfather is the first man in the history of the UK to be arrested under the Race Relations act in the 60s.

Here, I found a not-very-complimentary wiki about him.

Needless to say, I happen to know that half of what is written is complete BS.

Do you think you are going to be silenced because you have dared to speak up against marriage and organized religion?

Have you ever heard of the 1960's? They REALLY HAPPENED!

It's a shame much of the media & authorities didn't seem to think so - otherwise I would probably have at least got a chance to meet him :(

There is a movie about it called The Bank Job. If anyone is interested in that story, the bullsh*t version is in that movie, with a telling part right at the end where they reveal the MI5 file on my grandfather which is locked in the British Vault and will not be open until.........wait for it.........2054.

That means all his direct descendants will be presumed dead - I myself will be 66 at the time of opening.

On my mum's side. They knew him extremely well - until his death. The family don't really like to talk about it - I've even been discouraged from mentioning it publicly so as to not attract attention to them and their ancestry. I reckon it's already known to whomever needs to know anywhere near the top.

He had converted to Islam very early in my mother's life, so that's how come I have an understanding of the religion. He was very charismatic by all accounts and a very good talker, many famous friends. John Lennon was a close friend of the family at the time. It's unfortunate I never got to meet him either. Muhammad Ali came to the Black House to meet him, Malcolm X met him before his own death too (in fact, they stayed at the same hotel, and Malcolm instructed the staff to reserve a room for his 'brother' - that is how he got the name Michael X :lmao:). Nigel Samuels, son of the jeweller J Samuels, funded the Black House project too.

One of my mother's cousins was best friends with the Kray Twins. He is/was so nice, that I was amazed when I found out (when we were watching a movie about them, in California - I was sixteen). My grandmother had a fur coat in her wardrobe, that belonged to the Krays' mother; she got it from my Great Aunt, somehow (I forget how). I hope that J. didn't do anything serious/dodgy to get that for his mum, and they gave it to him because their mother didn't need it. One of the brothers showed up on my Uncle E's doorstep, and scared the crap out of him - he was there looking for J, but E. didn't like it (obviously - and nothing much scared him). E. was a boxer, and J. met the brothers through boxing lessons that were so popular at the time.

Mum thinks that J. moved to the Isle of Wight, to be close to at least one of them in prison. He became a Jehovah's Witness (to put this somewhat on-topic :) ).

I was going to respond to something about atheists. I need to find the post again.

Will they take you away in a white coat with buckles on it? :p:bunny: always get an image of a straitjacket and a padded cell when someone mentions being taken away, for some reason. :lmao:

I think they may have come for him at last. Society may be safe from his intellectually groundbreaking theories. ;)
