my confidence level is at about 30% most of the time and i want to seriously upt that!...ive tried throwing myeslf out there but OH GOD!..that didnt work! lol :)

my looks dont bother me too much.....im not ugly and ive been told that im 'hot' by a few people...but im far from big headed...i am a bit self-conscious though

Hey

I have the same problem as you. I have a hard time talking to people and when they are shy it's worse. I think what ya gotta do is just be yourself, and try to bring up something to get a conversation going. Even say hi or just ask afew questions. It works sometimes. It's hard when you don't know what to say and you don't want that other person to think that you are weird or so. But the main thing is be yourself and try hard not to think of what the other person is thinking of you.

I hope I was a help!

if you get along better with talkative girls, just stick to them! why are you trying to get along w/ shy girls is that's not your boat?

Yes, I WAS in your boat. And I'm sorry to say it, but confidence is hard-earned. It doesn't come from reading a book, it doesn't come from meeting people. I honestly believe it comes from accomplishment. For example, I love archery. I used to be really bad at it, but I kept practicing, and now I'm pretty decent. I once failed out of college but now I'm 10 months away from graduation and getting straight A's! With each accomplishment my confidence grew, and on those days when I didn't like myself, I reminded myself of those accomplishments.

This has an added bonus: when you have goals and hobbies and things to aspire to, people want to get to know you. People are attracted to happy people with things going on in their lives.
