Minnie09
Has anybody ever purchased one of those Groupon deals for Botox? I'm kind of reluctant. They're offered at rates like 100 bucks/20 units. It's always a doctor's office or a similar facility with dermatologists and plastic surgeons, but is there a risk that you overpay, say for Botox that is diluted too much? It's usually double the price in my area, so I don't know... I'm not so worried about the qualification of the injector, but rather the quality of the product and how it is diluted before injecting. CarrieT
I'm dating a doctor and he told me those deals a racket... The Botox that is truly effective COSTS the doctors $300 to $500 a dose and the doctors themselves don't see a lot of money in dispensing an effective amount. He offered if I wanted some, I could pay the cost and it would still be several hundred dollars without the staffing fees for the injection. Those that are offering $100 versions are supplying a dose that is significantly less than will be beneficial and it is done as a bait-and-switch to get you in to get you to buy more. Avoid.... Eternal Sunshine
I dunno, I got one of those deals and it seems to work fine. I had the same amount injected that I had at the other place (for $300) - this deal was $100. Third month now and I haven't been able to frown at all.
amaysngrace
I have no idea why anybody would have toxins injected so close to their brain. Even if it's free.

If you got over words "toxins-brain" and actually did some research, you would see that there are no adverse effects at all.

Actually it hasn't been around long enough to study long term effects.

I'm thinking if they sell me 20 units, they have to give me 20. I just don't know if I can trust them. I usually get 30 for around 500$. I do frown, though, still, hehe, just my eyebrows are lifted and my 11 straightened out. Thing is, they can't possibly make it happen at that rate. Soooooo how illegal would it be for them to give you less units by diluting the product more? would any doctor risk that?
Eternal Sunshine
The cheap place I went to was a bit dodgy. It seemed like the person who gave it to me didn't have much training or anything but it's easy to do so that didn't concern me. I only have 20 shot to the frown lines (normal rate is $360). This place was selling 30 for $100. I would totally go there again, since I really can't frown - it's easy to see that it worked.
cerridwen
What is fringe? It sounds painful. It's positively filthy. OP, scrimping on facial enhancers? Not sure it's a wise idea. And I do believe the skill of the injector matters: stone face, anyone?
Author Minnie09
It's positively filthy. OP, scrimping on facial enhancers? Not sure it's a wise idea. And I do believe the skill of the injector matters: stone face, anyone? My only concern really is whether or not it is a rip-off as far as amount of units are concerned. There are some deals out there that are sold by wellness-centers, without an MD on the premises, and I wouldn't purchase those anyways. But there ARE deals out there that are sold by surgeons and dermatologists, so they are qualified and specialized. Whether or not they are "good" is a different issue. But at least they went to med school. And as far as the stone face is concerned, I know ladies who actually prefer that. They don't want to be able to move their foreheads. You usually tell the injector what facial areas you want to have injected to what extent, and they usually take that into consideration.
