taiko
And for other Christians to take time to create web sites and videos attacking another ministry...how do you have time for that? Are you absolutely sure that God called you to do that and there is nothing better He wants you to be doing? Really petty antics for a Christian to be involved with IMHO. What about the homeless guy living under the bridge? What about the elderly folks down the street w/ no one to talk to to? What about the kids in the cancer ward? Spend time in ministry and you won't have time to be a busy body. Just my 2 cents. As with many, they transitioned from "I believe" to "I know" and can't believe that X on TV has more people in his chior then the webmaster has in his church. And since he is right the only explanation for this turn of events is that X must have help from the other side.
mercy
Okay, I will. But just realize I was never criticizing anyone here. Just Osteen's doctrine. So I apologize if that indirectly offends anyone. Thank you and I do understand what you were trying to convey. I just don't believe that God expects us to stay in a state of brokenness. I believe this because He has filled my life with joy. Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. 2 Corinthians 5:17 Yours, theirs, mine - the path God has placed us on is as unique as we are. What God has laid on your heart may not be what He has laid on mine. That doesn't make either of us wrong it makes us children of a living God who guides and directs our lives to bring us closer to Him. It's a beautiful love story for all of us. If you believe a little different than me that's okay. I can no more place you on my path as you could place me on yours. If words on this forum aren't for me I move on. If it touches my heart I thank God and feel blessed. I wish you peace, M30USA Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful. Luke 6:36
M30USA
Thank you and I do understand what you were trying to convey. Luke 6:36 That may all be true, but the center of what Osteen preaches is Your Best Life Now. And what does "best life" mean? Health, wealth, prosperity, victory. Victory in what? Christ said whoever wants to be the greatest must be the least. Why won't Osteen ever preach that? Also, why doesn't he EVER preach about sin and repentance? Every time you heard Jesus preach of the Gospel, he ALWAYS started out with the word, "Repent!"
Author pureinheart
I am going to start watching It's Supernatural online because it is on too late in the UK. Can't promote that show enough. Proper spiritual food from normal people who often were just minding their own business. Pureinheart - I also love Creflo Dollar - fickle I know but that man has really good skin. Regarding the issue of who is real and who is not in Preacher terms. I reckon that we are all on different levels and it is important to have people speak to you at your level. I like Joel much muchly. He has spoken into my life many many times. Creflo though, that man has broken off some dross that needed to get broken off my soul. Things I had been praying about in spirit. Creflo is on a different level.. I am praying in tongues whilst listening to him - he is not playing. So, they are both cool to me as long as I am fed on the level I need feeding. I have resolved that that is for me to sort out with God. Also, I think in the later stages of being a Christian your spirit starts trying to speak too as you grow in love. We must be careful that we ask to be cleansed before we go out to others because what is a distraction to us can be covered by Grace for another by God's love for them. So sometimes it is important that we STFU and wait for God. God Has our backs so let's support one another and bear each others pain as well as happiness. Obviously this does not mean we should put up with everyone and not say anything. Take care, Eve x I had to laugh (although it's not funny when going through the fire) conccerning what you said about being careful to make sure we ask for cleansing...Eve, if there is one request that God will answer ASAP, that one would be a request for cleansing! The gift of tongues is a blessing and I must operate in that more. It clears the mind and edifies the body and spirit:) Excellent post BTW. I completely agree about Creflo Dollar, he cuts right to the core. Taffy is just as adorable as it gets, and speaks right into my spirit. His teachings are ground breaking. For me there are seasons in life and issues that need special attention, God is so gracious to put teachings in my way that are much needed. It's about balance. There are times the Lord will show that more love is needed and will convict me...the area of pride is a biggy for me. The Lord showed me that pride rises up when I am hurting or feel there has been an offence, He said pride is a defense mechanism, so I have to be on guard all of the time with that one.
Author pureinheart
Totally agree. I am the same way, M30 and I will add that nearly all televangelists are not based in Christ, but in self promotion and exaltation. Notice that these televangelists have their big, ol face on the cover of their book? A subtle but powerful message: its more about them and their success. With all due respect, I would say this is treading on some very shakey ground. Please take it from one that had to learn the hard way (many times), and knows the Divine Woodshed VERY well, especially in this particular area, that God judges the heart of a man and only He knows the motive behind the motive.
