Elvis4ever
Hi there. All of my life i have been over weight. When i was younger i weighed 180 pds. and when i got to high school..i wanted a change so the summer after my 9th grade year i worked out religously and always ate less to lose weight..and i lost 30 pds. I looked very good..down to 150. I am now a Junior in college and have managed to keep the weight off...but i would like to lose more..and it seems that ive gotten to this weight and i cant lose anymore...i work out and exercise..but nothing seems to help...ive even gained...im now at 160...but i thought i had lost..until i had went to the dr. and seen that my weight was 160. i have the Gazelle and through the month of june i worked out on that thing everyday for an hr. and lost 500 calories each day...(it had a counter)..and so i was dis-appointed when arriving to the dr's to find that i hadnt lost anything... I have decided to try something new...i have been working out every day with the Denise Austin video and it looks as if im loosing some inches.... But, i want to know what is the best thing that i can do to lose weight to get down to 130-135...the things ive been doing doesnt seem to work....
honey2005
How tall are you? Maybe 160 is the right weight for your body type. I've read that the best way to lose weight is to cut calories. Try counting the calories you consume, and try to burn more than that. I've been wanting to try that, and I have for the past few days, but I've had 2 birthday parties in a row and I can't resisit cake...but the first week I was on it I lost 4 lbs. I know I won't get results liek that all the time, but that made me really happy. I'm going back on that tomorrow, and I'm really going to stick to it this time. Tell me what you decide to do, and keep me posted about how well you're doing:D. Good luck!!!

Love2BLoved
I'm 5'8" and I use to weight about 160 pounds when I was about 18. I use to feel so bad about my weight and decided to lose weight no matter how hard it was. I stopped eating fast food completely and enrolled myself in dance classes for about 3 months. I also ate small portions of food throughout the day(about 4 times) even though at first it was hard because I was so used to stuffing my face even if I was full, after a while I was able to eat normally and actually get full. I would never eat after 6:00 p.m.!!!!!! That's when your metabolism starts slowing down. Also, I drank lots and lots of water. Like Honey said you should try to burn more calories than you take in. Small things make a difference, instead of taking an elevator take the stairs. Leave your car parked further down. Walk to places that are near instead of driving. In about 3-4 months I was down to 130 pounds, which was my goal since I am tall! After reaching MY ideal weight I kept some of my new eating habits and still drink a lot of water. I am now 24 and weigh about 125. This worked for me, however, everyones' body works different. You may want to go to a nutritionist or a weight watcher's program. Also if you do get in a diet take vitamins! Good Luck
Taken_Angel
Are you built ok? If you are in porportion and not heavy or frumpy maybe you shouldn't focus so much on the actual "weight"
Haunani
1 year ago I weighed over 200 lbs, now I'm down to 130 @ 5'0". Sometimes it takes desperate measures to find yourself wanting to do it this time. Mine was that my older brother teased me endlessly when he finally saw me after 5 years of being away, and although we've teased each other about our weight before, this one hit me right there. I vowed one year from then I'd show my brother. And I did. I read everything I could get my hands on nutrition wise. It was a Lifestyle change, not a diet. I had to re-learn HOW to eat and when. Everything in moderation, and watching the portions. When they say 1 ea. 3oz size pc chicken, they mean the size of a deck of cards, I could easily polished off 4 of those before. It really is a mind game. You have to ask yourself HOW bad you want to lose the weight. I was sick of the fat that jiggled everytime I walked. I watched the percentages of fat/carbs/protein and worked in at least 200-500 exersise calories burned. Walking, speed walking - my favs, the firm tapes (cardio), and incorported the weights - light 5,10 lbs for toning not bulk. Eat alot of fiber it fills you up faster, and 5-6 mini meals a day, drink at least 1/2 your weight in ounces, more on hot humid days, I drink between 75-100 ozs a day. Start with small goals - 10 lbs, 20 lbs. etc. 1-2 lbs a week is a safe weight loss to keep it off., and measure yourself. Sometimes you don't lose weight, but you are toning, so don't step on the evil scale everyday. Stay away from those fad diets, it won't work. Eat less, move more. Basic concept and you'll be fine. And if you want to eat something - eat it, just do it in moderation - my downfall - cheetos - flaming hot ones - I count out exatly 9 and put the rest away, and eat oh so very slowly, and then I drink water, and it's done. So that one bag lasts me all week. If you don't cook - begin, and use spices. Substitute many things. Olive oil for wesson, make wise choices. Once you are on your way and see that you can lose 5 lbs, continue with it until you hit your goal. If it takes 4 months fine, just do it. Good luck. You can do it.

I just wanted to say I've stuck to my diet pretty well, and I don't know if I've lost any weight or not (scales depress me) but I feel ALOT better.
cinnamonstix49
I didnt weigh myself before my diet because I was too depressed, all I know is that I couldn't fit in my normal pants so I was sad... Since I've been dieting, I haven't weighed myself either, but I think it's working a little bit, I've had enough courage to buy some pants atleast
honey2005
Ugh I don't want to buy any pants. My waist just hasn't quit growing since spring break. Now I am back into my fat pants that I hadn't work in like 3 years . I want my little pants back. *sniff*

InmannRoshi
The issue isn't so much your weight as it is your lifestyle. If you made a lifestyle change that you intend to keep, then you needn't worry about what your scale reads.

cinnamonstix49
My family always ruins my diets and lifestyles! They drag me to wierd places and force me to eat stuff! If I could avoid them... it would all work out fine. Like this weekend, I'm going to North Carolina... last time I was there... I went to Dean and Deluca's, and the Cheesecake Factory ! AHH how am I supposed to lose weight doing that!? Thank God we're just going camping this week and shouldn't be around any good food places
