Scorpion1691
Think about the places you would hang out. The gym, grocery store, the mall, walking the park. School. I like talking to the moms at school. I coach soccer, lots of soccer moms and dad. Wrestling even more.
Pained
Hobbies. I'm a gamer girl, and while I didn't meet my current boyfriend at the game store I was at, I DID meet the person who introduced us at one, because we're all geeks and stuff.
Bart_Weisser
I have heard lot of guys and girls complaining about being so difficult to meet people. I mean, people are everywhere, why is it so difficult? There used to be a girl who told me the exact same thing every time we talked. And at one time I said to her, "you are single, and I am single. Why don't we start dating." That was the last time I heard from her. At that time I didn't understand the logic behind it. When I moved to the city (Vancouver), I asked for passers-by for directions. If I asked a girl she would always claim ignorance. I later realised they were all major intersections, so it was obvious that they (at least some of them) would know. They simply didn't want to talk to me. I wasn't hitting on them, nor am I grotesque looking, plus, I am sane. So why are they so defensive when it comes to a simple question? The issue, I must admit, is a matter of rhetoric. What we actually mean, is that we "are having problem meeting people who meet our standards." The standards varies from one to another, but I believe this puts everything in perspective. There is nothing wrong having "standards", but the higher standards you have (relative to what you can achieve), the less people you will meet. It's not a two-way street, and that's the price you pay. We are at an age, where enthusiasm is thought as being desperate. Have we really become so paranoid and insecure that we will only date behind an Internet firewall? Is it really so difficult to start talking? Okay, crazy people (and really old people) will start talking on their own initiative. But if a normal gal starts talking to me, I wouldn't think they are nuts. I mean, when someone says they are having trouble looking for people, I suggest he take a deep breath, look around, and then take up the courage and start talking. BW. Tech76
It would seem that the internet gives us options that were not available not that long ago.
