Hi, this is my first time visiting this site (or any site like it)

Im 22 yrs old and here is my situation...

I moved out to another state two months ago to start life.

I like a phone call from the parents every once and awhile but its getting insane. Everyday i get at least one new text from my mom asking how im doing or telling me that she misses me. If i dont call at least once every two days or so they (mom and dad) will try and call me or text me asking why i dont call.

Today i spoke to my mom and she was concerned as usual over nothing (i hadnt called in five days) so i did the daily routine of reassuring her everything's still alright..

Then two mins after the call (im thinking now i just gotta call my dad then i can relax again for a day or two) she texts me "i miss you"... which happens a lot.

Then i talked to my dad which i really dont mind those calls at all because hes not all into my. Personal life (we mostly talk about our jobs and basic day to day stuff.

So emotionally it feels pretty strange like my ex gf would text me i miss you when we havent hung out in a bit which i actually liked but coming from my mom idk what to think but its a pretty wierd feeling and its def not a good one. I really believe she just wants to know all my private and personal stuff including how i think/ make decisions. I think she loves me a little too much maybe?

Give it to me straight people i want your opinions here dont just try to make me feel good i need a real solution to this problem ill answer any questions you have so please help me out!

Well, she obviously misses you...I'm not a mother so I wouldn't know, but it seems a little (s)mothering to me. Maybe you just need to tell her you're an adult now, you need to start your new life, you love her, but that you don't like her constant attempt at communication. She has to respect your boundaries, even if she is your mother, the last thing you want is to start resenting her because she won't leave you alone for a few days at a time.

I guess it's hard for parent's to accept their kids grow up. I'm sure she doesn't mean any harm though. But I'd give it to her straight.

When I moved out of my parent's house at 22, to 5 minutes away by car, my mom would call me everyday! For a few months, she called and called and called. Then she got used to it and stopped.

I have now moved to another country. When that happened we would chat online for ages every day! Now we barely talk once a week!

Just give it time and she'll get used to it soon.
