sparkle
Hello everyone, I wanted to share a piece of writing with all of you in case you haven't read it. I'm 21 now, I first read this in the 10th grade, when I was 15. I had broken up with a boyfriend I had dated for 2 yrs, and a teacher of mine gave me this poem. It helped me a lot, and I've held onto it ever since. What do you guys think of it? Comes the Dawn After a while you learn the subtle difference Between holding a hand and chaining a soul, And you learn that love doesn't mean leaning And company doesn't mean security And you begin to learn that kisses aren't contracts And presents aren't promises, And you begin to accept your defeats With your head up and your eyes open, With the grace of a woman, not the grief of a child. And you learn to build all your roads on today Because tomorrow's ground is too uncertain for plans, And futures have a way of falling down in mid-flight. And afer a while, you learn That even sunshine burns if you get too much. So you plant your own garden and decorate your own soul Instead of waiting for someone to bring you flowers. And you learn that you really can endure... That you really are strong And you really do have worth And you learn and learn... With every goodbye, you learn. --unknown

Tony T
What a great poem. Kind of priceless. I hope everyone will print it out. Not only is it comforting at a time of loss but it's also education and makes us remember just what this stuff is all about. Thanks for sharing!!!

Paulie
Y'know, I think stuff like this ought to be archived on this site in some fashion. If there was a way to have a place on the site where there were various categories (ie, breakups, cheating, ex's, etc.) that old, relevant posts could be linked to...it'd be alot better than letting alot of this priceless stuff be deleted after a few weeks. Great Post, Thanks for sharing with us! Paulie
