I'm going to post this then try to relax (ha! I haven't been able to do that much lately)

My husband had a stroke yesterday morning. He is in the hospital now. This is his second stroke - he had one last February - on Superbowl Sunday.

His health is deteriorating so fast and I've spent a lot of time crying and trying not to cry and trying to deal with the stress of having lost two beloved K-9 kids a year apart, and another having major surgery a week ago yesterday and caring for him, and trying to get started on my new job responsibilities and ........

We've been married over 26 years and together since August 1984. We are all each other has. No family support system or close friends. We are all that is left and I have to say - I'm damn scared now.

Your H is strong and he loves you as much you love him. He's been through a lot in the past year, both of you have .. If any two people can come out of a tough situation, it's you and your H! Especially you Hokey.

Thoughts and prayers, hope he recovers quickly.

What have the Dr's said so far?

Hokey, reach out to your co workers..Ask for help, or a neighbour too. Just to have someone you can rely on once in a while.

Thank you everyone. I'm taking a few moments to post - then I've got to get my laundry done for work tomorrow.

After oh so much testing they determined it was not a stroke, rather he is having seizures and they don't know what is causing them.

I have to take him to the neurologist he saw last Feb. & has been seeing since then because the doc's at this hospital suspect these seizures could be a precursor to a massive stroke.

We live not too far from one of the best stroke centers in the country and that's where we are going either tomorrow or tuesday at the latest - but I think his neurologist will say to come in tomorrow and will probably admit him. We went to a branch of that hospital that is 10 minutes from home and last February they transferred him by ambulance from that branch to the one in the medical center, but didn't feel they needed to do that this time since it was not a stroke "only" seizures. Only! I know to them that may not seem like much but it's absolutly terrifying to me. Our son died as the result of a grand mal epileptic seziure.

John's home, but still having seizures. I don't want to go to work tomorrow, but I must - I have to work to afford the health care and so that neither of us has the added stress of being unemployed and worried about paying bills. At least my working can provide some stability in that respect.

I know that I can work from home if I need to, but since I'll be at the hospital more often than not, I'm going to buy a laptop and work from that. I'll get the details of what I need in a laptop from work tomorrow.

Hubby also wants a new cell phone - a Galexy III. Not cheap, but lots of features and the one key thing (go ahead and laugh) the store we are buying from offers classes in how to use it for us old folks & we need it!

We don't have a lot of money and have been trying to save against any future unemployment, but if that's what he wants then that is what he will have. Right now our little flip phones have voicemail and that's it - no texting, or internet or any of that fancy stuff you youngun's use! :)

I'm going to get him the bluetooth with it too as I think that may make it easier on him and he can be talking and be online and whatever too. Especially if he has to be in the hospital.

I thank you for all your thoughts and prayers - it really does help me to know that there are others who have said prayers or have us/him in their thoughts - it makes me feel less alone.

I remember when you posted about the first stroke.

I can't say anything other than you are both in my thoughts and prayers. Really hope someone can come to help you both at this time.. to share this difficult time with.

Will light candles and send positive thoughts your way. Hope a scratch card comes through for you, or somehow you get some cash to help out. Hope this is not offensive to you.

Take care,

Eve x

Having the situation is really hard. However you are not only the one who is suffering. You might got depress at first but you should motivate yourself to be strong.
