Danced Out of My Comfort Zone, and Did Really Well!!!

Recommended Posts

OK, I don't mind admitting, I'm proud of myself right now. This year I went back to a type of modern dance/gymnastics. Anyway, it's a sport I've done since I was little, but I've had a few years off. I found it really tough getting back into it, and getting my flexibility back etc. Plus, I'm older than a lot of the girls in my particular section. It would in fact have been easier to go into an easier section altogether....or simply give up.

Anyway...I've practiced hard, and today I entered a competition. I was so nervous, competing out there in front of people, andknowing I do find the routines pretty hard. But...I won my section!! I was thrilled. My mum and dad and fiance all came at watched and gave me big hugs. I'm tired now, but still buzzing. :D:D My teacher told me I worked really well. I feel like a little kid who's just done something great and is basking in the praise. As with other things, I'm quite insecure about my abilities in this arena, so this is really good for me.

Like all fashion - if enough time passes the deeply uncool suddenly becomes fashionable again. Flares, Abba (NOT the Bee Gees - at least NOT YET!). An opera based on Abba songs (adapted by a founding member, I forget which) has recently opened in London. Abba as high art, what next!
