serial muse
The Overpopulation Myth These calculations are pretty amusing, in that they seem to suggest that the only thing we'd need fresh water for is to drink (not, say, agriculture or power generation, which require exponentially more water, and of course we'll need more food as the world's population grows, as well as more power, so those needs will increase dramatically too, and...). And the best part is that it seems to assume a steady-state - as though we can count on the outflow of the Columbia River (for example) staying as it is, despite climate change (the Columbia River is in part glacier-fed, so what happens if the glaciers are diminishing?), and after all, more people procreate more rapidly, so... Ah well. I wish it were as simple as that dude is pretending it is, solving the world's problems before lunch. Must be a real load off of one's shoulders, pun intended. Author The nihilst chick
It's funny that you mentioned that quote. I actually have it posted at my desk at work. The other people usually have photos with their children all over their desk. I have that quote and a cartoon that I really like. It goes something like this: ***A woman goes to a fortune teller to ask her about the future. The fortune teller says: "I see a time when peace shall reign throughout the world" The woman says: "I bet the people are happy". The fortune teller: "I don't see any people". *** I'm glad there are still a few people out there with an open mind that are actually trying to understand the world we are living in instead of just following the crowd. So I'll be glad to answer any other questions that you might have. I only check my email once every one or two weeks, but I'll get to it sooner or later. I wish you all the best! Thanks. I think I am becoming a misanthrope lol. I hate humans for what we do sometimes.
Author The nihilst chick
I've been saying this for years. I am not some fringe lunatic, but I am a fisherman. I've seen rivers so polluted the fish come out with cancerous tumors all over their gills. I've seen fish kills, deforestation, and destruction of natural habitat simply for more row homes and developements for the NYC folk who want a "country" experience. We're like termites, boring our way through our natural resources in our never ending pursuit of the dollar. Fictional, useless and otherwise contrived fiat bills of questionable value, pondered on by thieves on wall street and banking mobs. In any case, I am glad to say I live as minimally as possible, and have a whole foods diet so I am not proliferating this consumerist culture of overproduction escapist nonsense. I was thinking of leaving society
wheream_i
Basically people who wish for humans to stop having babies so our population will decrease and earth will return to its former glory. They do not want goverment to force extinction on us or to enforce birth control as chin hence its called VOLUNTARY human extinction. I read another article in which scientists say our population is too large for birth control condoms efc to help two billion of humans will have to die or our population will triple before the end of the century and little resources will be around. The wesbite for VHEMT is VHEMT. What do you think? I'm for it!

Talking about fishing... In 2006 a survey in China to locate the endangered Yangtze River dolphin, known as the baiji, found no evidence of its survival. Despondent, researchers declared that the baiji was likely extinct. Four years later and the large charismatic marine mammal is not only 'likely extinct', but in danger of being forgotten, according to a surprising new study "Rapidly Shifting Baselines in Yangtze Fishing Communities and Local Memory of Extinct Species" in Conservation Biology. Read more at Extinct animals are quickly forgotten: the baiji and shifting baselines So no wonder so many people are denying the fact that we are destroying the Earth. Once we destroy it, we already forgot about it and moved on.
