shelley3
Years ago I was 320 I dieted, ate right, worked out and lost weight. I have been at a healthy weight for years now. I recently have been sepereated and with moving divorcing and life I have been stressed. My eating habits gotten out of hand but in the other direction. I simply don't eat most of the time and I am not hungry either. People have been saying tomball wasting away but I thought nothing of it til I got on a scale and at 5'11 I am now 115. I'm not sure but I don't think that is good and was wanting advice. Honestly when I eat I feel sick now. I don't know how to break this cycle and just get back to the healthy eating habbits. I was wondering if anyone had experienced this and what did they do that worked. There is advice all over the place to lose weight and to stop eating but not how to get an appetite back and not feel sick when you even think of food
tman666
Definitely take steps to get your head right and manage your stress. That's the obvious root of the problem, so any advice on working out and diet will have to come as an afterthought to fixing your emotional state. Sorry to hear things suck right now, but it'll get better! Just gotta trudge through. In the meantime, you might want to invest in something yummy and high in calories. Pearson's Salted Nut Rolls come to mind...
sweetkiwi
are you against smoking weed? That helps. If not i would get those vitamin shakes for people and children who don't get enough nutrients the old fashioned way. I've been there. Its stress tummy and you just have to start small. Don't give up. Not eating is incredibly damaging to the human body, especially a woman's. We lose vitamins and bone mass at a faster pace. Heart attack and bone fractures. Not fun.
Author shelley3
Well weed is out (not sure it would help with custody lol) I think the shakes are a fantastic idea I haven't thought of. I have no issues with drinking I have been trying to drink milk since its high in calories. I dildo think it has a lot to do with stress. Still advice is helpful. Thank you

Author shelley3
Yeah that's my auto correct lol. It happens more than I like to admit I say does or did it says dildo. My phone thinks I'm perverse but then again its not a word typically saved in auto correct which means I saved it so maybe I am a perv lol. Hey it is what it is
sweetkiwi
well you get your ass to the dildo store and ask them for ensure. I think its by the powershakes and what not. My little sister had trouble keeping weight on and those shakes really help. I made her give them to me though because they are delish so i got chubby and she stayed skinny good lucky lady! Its a good thing you're trying to nip it in the bud. Try cooking. That always makes me hungry. The prep, the smell, trying new things or making my favorites. Any little thing helps. Oh! Have you tried eating infront of the tv? I heard its bad for those using to lose weight because they don't notice they're eating the entire time, but in your situation it could be good. Els
Hrmmm. Have you gotten a medical checkup recently? I don't mean to alarm you, but sometimes constant lack of appetite, to the point where you're 'wasting away' could be indicative of a medical issue. Aside from that, it's most likely the stress, and you need to take steps to address that root issue. You can try to search for nice foods that you can tolerate more than others, but you absolutely must find a way to prevent the stress from affecting you so negatively. It could be something as simple as making a few changes in your life (changing job, lower spending, etc), or you may need a therapist or a psychologist to help you.
Author shelley3
I haven't been to the doctor in a year. Maybe I should go. Idk when I say food makes me sick I mean it, I want to vomit when I eat and I usually don't eat. I did eat tonight though but not much.

My phone thinks I'm perverse but then again its not a word typically saved in auto correct which means I saved it so maybe I am a perv lol. Hey it is what it is Autocorrect only uses commonly used words in your vocab.. just saying. As for your appetite, I'm sure it will come back.. My weight fluctuates a lot on my mood/emotional state. up to -/+15lbs in some cases.. sometimes i will go weeks on end barely nibbling on things, and forcing myself to eat stuff. Sometimes, that's just the way it is for some people. When I am in a dietary funk I can't even stand even chewing food, and weed doesn't help either. When I do feel that way, juice is the way to go, for me. But I got a badass juicer and yard full of fruits and veggies of all kinds. It's pretty simple to chug down a glass of juice that will easily full a days worth of most vitamins.. just an idea. hang in there. >cat poster<
SmileFace
Congrats on your past weight loss Were you tracking your friends when you lost weight. It may seem silly to track your calories to gain weight but I think you should. You can afford so try high fats, juice, milk, ensure - you need to get in the calories. Have you talked your doctor. I know people have had sugar spikes from not monitering foods when trying to gain weight. I say first start by tracking everything. Just eat the way have been but you need a stable idea of what you are working with. Track for a week - try to calculate the calories as well and then try to improve on that. Author shelley3
I didn't ever really count calories I rarely weighed myself just ate what I thought was healthy and worked out. Oh and thank you I think high calories is the way I may have to try first. Then if it doesn't change I guess I'll go to the doctor, I hate doctors lol. I think it may be stress I hope it is. So for now its just more stress

I use to be 302 but in order for me to track my weight now I have to track everythign I eat - which I don't really mind. However I didn't do that when I was losing weight - I may need to just take your approach.
Author shelley3
Yeah as far as weight loss goes it never worked for me when I counted calories or weighed myself all the time because I'd get discouraged. I'm afraid of what the doctor would say now I've been told in the past I was to big I don't want to hear I'm to skinny I feel like I can't win

There is advice all over the place to lose weight and to stop eating but not how to get an appetite back and not feel sick when you even think of food I have this problem(stressors lately have been intense) i could tell you all my bad eating habits and they are many.......the good thing is i have just joined a gym which will work on my diet as well i have a personal trainer so diet and lifestyle are key as well as the fitness and intensity........when i lose my appetite it can be because of extreme dieting.......my stomach shrinks.......i start to see results and i go extreme.I dont eat and have to force myself....eating in public becomes difficult and i feel i am being watched.......so that to me, is me with an eating disorder i feel guilt when i eat .......havent told the personal trainer that(i did tell him i tend to overtrain) but this is the first time i have used a personal trainer so he will be monitoring...i dont want a repeat extreme weight loss and one thing he said stuck in my head the most and that is if you start you dotn stop.....well this time its a lifelong thing so i am starting and i wont be stopping...hopefully i get it right.....god willing i will....in all areas of my life.....my appetite has not returned yet maybe proper training of my body will give it back....in the navy i ate like a horse size ten up top 12 around the hips....thats where i want to be not so much weight but clothing size...deb

Author shelley3
If I'm being 100% honest I do have insomnia and a little stomachs pain but I really do think its all stress. I will go to doc soon though just to be safe. I know stress can take a toll on the body I'm just hoping my appetite does come back and food isn't an issue anymore.

kiss_andmakeup
OP I understand what you're talking about. A lot of people are emotional eaters - well I'm an emotional NON eater! When I'm going through something really stressful, like a bad breakup, I have zero appetite, and eating makes me feel almost ill. I ended up making shakes the last time I went through something like this, as others have suggested, and it helped me a lot! Congratulations on going from 320 to a healthy weight...that is a seriously commendable effort...you'll get back up to healthy weight once you get yourself back into an emotionally stable and happy place.
Author shelley3
Thanks I'm hoping it will go back to normal. The divorce is just more emotional than I thought it would be. I will hang in though and b strong I have three kids to consider.

whichwayisup
Dildo store for the shakes it is. With my newly single super skinny status I can kill two birds lol. I was going to suggest the ensure. Also, even if you're not hungry, eat something for breakfast. Whether it be a piece of toast or a banana, or a bowl of cereal. My friend lost tons of weight, she got so sick and it took her a while to put the weight back on because she wasn't eating enough. Eat small snacks throughout the day and build your appetite back up. High protein, carbs and even chocolate and chips (in the evening). French fries also can help kick in your appetite. Do see your family Dr and let them know what's going on. Get your blood levels checked, (iron and B12), if need be, get B12 shots, they help with your energy level if you're feeling sluggish, tired and sore all over. Take multivitamins everyday too. But 115 is very unhealthy for someone who's 5'11. I'm 5'3" and 126 and have people saying I don't need to lose any more weight. Anyways, I was depressed not too long ago and stopped eating a lot. I would get counseling if you can and/or take anti-depressants. My anxiety sometimes makes me stop eating and anti-anxiety medication has definitely helped my moods and overall thinking. That and there have been so many traumatic events in my life this year, I am concerned about the level of stress that will impact my health if I wasn't on medication when I needed it. Of course, I don't recommend relying on medication, but if you truely are not eating it may help you get through what you're going through.
